Knee-high naturalists: 10-11:30 a.m. at Dragonflies Discovery Preschool, 30 152nd Ave., Holland. Knee-high naturalists introduce the wonders of the natural world to young children. Crafts, activities, books, snacks, live animals, and outside exploration will be incorporated into their nature-based learning experience. Parents can drop off their 4- to 6-year-old or stay with the class. Parents or guardians are asked to attend with their 3-year-old to help with bathroom use and transitioning into a group learning environment. Suggested age range is 3-6 years old. Summer Concert Series: 6:30-8:30 p.m. at Kollen Park + Heinz Waterfront Walkway, 240 Kollen Park Drive, Holland. Residents and visitors alike are invited to join in the excitement at the Kollen Park Bandshell every Friday evening to enjoy a free community concert. These free community concerts are once again made possible through the generous support of presenting sponsors, Blain’s Farm and Fleet, Haworth, and Barber Ford of Holland. Netherlands “Klok” Runs at Noon: Noon at Holland Museum, 31 W. 10th St., Holland. See the wonderful moving parts of the Netherlands “Klok” from the 1939 World’s Fair. The Klok runs on the first Saturday of every month at noon for one minute. Enjoy Holland's heritage at three museum sites, the Holland Museum and two newly restored house museums, the Cappon House and Settlers House. Elegant second-floor galleries now house the museum's extensive Dutch Collection of Fine and Decorative Arts. On exhibit are 56 17th- to 20th-century Dutch paintings and more than 170 other cultural objects, from fine furniture, Delftware and silver to original Dutch costumes. Follow the story of our settlement in 1847 as it shows the development as a city of diverse people. All three sites are listed on the National Register of Historic places.
Women in Nature - Vineyard Tour: 12:30-2:30 p.m. at Fenn Valley Vineyards, 6130 122nd Ave., Fennville. Outdoor Discovery Center is excited to offer a private vineyard tour as part of the “Women in Nature” Program. Women in Nature is a program series hosted by the ODC Network designed to motivate women to be healthier,, active and passionate about the natural world around them. Guests will be pulled through the vineyards on a specially designed wagon to sample wines alongside the grapes they are made from. A senior member of the Fenn Valley team will explain the basic concepts of grape growing and wine making in Michigan. Barring really bad weather, the tour will occur outside, so please dress accordingly. Asian Cuisine – Cooking Class: 5-7 p.m. at Lulu Cadieux, 249 Mason St., Saugatuck. This is a fast-paced class. Using a wok, you will create a chicken or pork sweet and sour dish and shrimp Pad Thai. You will also make a green papaya salad,dance finishing with a sorbet. This class is limited to 10 people. If you prefer a private class, please call us to make arrangements. Please send a message when booking if you have any dietary restrictions. Hands-on cooking classes at Lulu Cadieux are seriously fun. Designed to teach you how to be a better cook, you will learn classic culinary techniques from proper knife skills to mise en place to spices to cooking methods to sauce-making. You will make a primary dish (among NINE different ones) along with salad, vinaigrette and a dessert. The best part is accomplishing a new skill, but eating the incredible meal you create in our beautiful chef’s kitchen is pretty special, too. The chef comes from a family of teachers and farmers and learning with him is an exceptional experience. $125 per person.

Books and Blooms will begin with a story time hosted by the Herrick District Library at 10 a.m., followed by a fun, educational, and hands-on activity for children from 10:30-11:30 a.m. hosted by our generous community partners, including local businesses and non-profit organizations. Books and Blooms will take place outside in the grass on the east side of the Posthouse. Books and Blooms are free to attend for all, just mention you are here for the series at our ticket booth and families can drop in anytime to join the fun. Bayshore Yacht Club hosts the largest Wednesday night racing fleet this side of Lake Michigan. This is an all-volunteer organization for both boats and people. Making History: Crafting Everyday Life: 9:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. at 200 Washington Ave., Grand Haven. This session of Making History focuses on fun, hands-on crafting processes and everyday items from the past. Participants will explore textiles from sheep to blankets, dye their own yarn, and try out weaving. They’ll also make a copybook and test writing with a quill and ink, dip a candle, and more. All items made during the class can be taken home. Separate sessions are offered for grades 1-4 and 5-8. Music Unites Us 2025: Grupo Super Nova: 7-8:30 p.m. at Kollen Park + Heinz Waterfront Walkway, 240 Kollen Park Drive, Holland. The Holland Symphony Orchestra’s annual Community Concert: Music Unites Us empowers our community to gather for free music, art, dance, and local food. Over 1,500 community members enjoy dancing in the sunshine, live art making, and orchestral folk music along with local food vendors such as DaKidd BBQ, Robinson’s Popcorn, Dolce Mini Cakes and Tacos, PAC pizza, and the Macatawa Bank Ice Cream truck. The 2025 concert will feature the local Cumbia band Grupo Super Nova with the Holland Symphony Orchestra and original arrangements by famed local composer Greg Scheer. Cumbia originated in Colombia and is a Latin American style of music and dance that combines African, European, and Indigenous influences. It’s known for its percussion-heavy sound and double beat. Research shows all sorts of beautiful benefits to making art in community: combating loneliness, building trust and empathy, and supporting health aging. With that in mind, Ox-Bow is excited to launch an annual community making day where our neighbors join in the meadow for a group activity. This year’s event will be led by Longform Mentor, kg gnatowski. Participants will create a large collective weaving along the lagoon and are encouraged to bring materials from home to contribute. The day will provide opportunities for rich conversations and the kindling of new friendships across generations and experiences. Registration is free but required.
