Family fun meets conservation: ODC Network set to host Macatawa Water Festival

HOLLAND — Community members of all ages can explore local nature, play water-conservation games, and paddle on Lake Macatawa during the Macatawa Water Festival on Saturday, Sept. 26, in Holland's Kollen Park.
Hosted by the Outdoor Discovery Center Network, the rescheduled family-friendly event highlights ongoing efforts to restore the Macatawa Watershed through Project Clarity while offering hands-on activities, live animal encounters, nature crafts, and kayaking.
The festival was originally scheduled for July 18, but organizers postponed and rescheduled it to September due to hazardous outdoor conditions caused by intense wildfire smoke and air quality alerts across West Michigan that weekend.
The free event features nature-based activities such as kayaking, exploring native and invasive plants, water conservation games, nature crafts, live animals and more.

Project Clarity, which began in 2013 and is entering its third phase, is a community-wide partnership with a goal to improve the health and clarity of Lake Macatawa and the Macatawa Watershed. The project will have a lasting impact on the economy, environment and community.
