Grandville man arraigned in Allendale off-campus peeping, break-in investigation
A 34-year-old Grandville man is behind bars following a yearlong investigation into a string of voyeurism and home invasion cases targeting off-campus student housing in Allendale Township.
GRAND HAVEN — A 34-year-old Grandville man is behind bars following a yearlong investigation into a string of voyeurism and home invasion cases targeting off-campus student housing in Allendale Township.
Samuel Harsh Wilson was arraigned Monday, Sept. 21, in 58th District Court before Judge Judith Mulder. He faces two counts of surveilling an unclothed person, one count of using a computer to commit a crime, and one count of disorderly conduct/window peeping.
The Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office began investigating in September 2025 after receiving repeated reports of a male peering through windows and filming female residents inside their apartments. Investigators tracked roughly a dozen similar incidents in the area, all occurring in the late-night or early morning hours. In several instances, the intruder went beyond window peeping and physically entered occupied residences.
The investigation reached a critical juncture on Monday, Sept. 14, around 4:30 a.m., when deputies responded to a home invasion report on Becker Drive. A female resident woke up to find an unknown male standing inside her bedroom. The suspect fled before law enforcement arrived on the scene.
Using a combination of investigative leads and automated license plate readers from the Flock Safety camera network, detectives identified Wilson as the primary suspect. Deputies and detectives located and arrested him three days later, on Sept. 17, in neighboring Georgetown Township.
Mulder set Wilson’s bond at $50,000 cash or surety. He remains held at the Ottawa County Jail.
Sheriff’s officials noted that the investigation remains active and additional charges are possible.
