ZEELAND — A local nonprofit’s ambitious effort to combat food insecurity has crossed a major financial threshold, clearing the way for a sweeping facility overhaul next year.
Harvest Stand Ministries announced Wednesday that its "Fighting Hunger, Building Hope" capital campaign has surpassed $2 million in gifts and commitments. By eclipsing the $1.95 million construction benchmark, the organization has secured the necessary funding to greenlight renovations, which are scheduled to begin in early spring 2027.
The ministry expects to move into the modernized facility by late fall 2027. According to leadership, the updated space is designed to streamline operations and create a more welcoming environment for clients, volunteers, and staff as demand for local aid rises.
"Surpassing $2 million is more than a fundraising achievement; it represents a community coming together to invest in hope," Executive Director Jordan Palladino said. "We are deeply grateful to every donor, volunteer, and advocate who has helped bring us to this point."
While the construction phase is officially locked in, organizers emphasize that the fundraising drive is far from over. The campaign will run through the end of 2028 to reach its ultimate $2.55 million target.

The remaining $550,000 will be used to fully realize the project's long-term vision and ensure the organization remains financially resilient in the face of future community needs.
"We're excited to celebrate this milestone, but our journey isn't over," Palladino added. "Together, we are building more than a facility. We are making sure we can respond to human need with the love of Christ for decades to come."
