HOLLAND — The Holland Chorale hosted its fall concert on Saturday, Oct. 24, delivering an evening of choral music that doubles as a tribute to one of the region’s key cultural figures.
The performance at Harderwyk Ministries honored the legacy of Cal Langejans, who founded the ensemble in 1960 and served as its director for four decades until 2000. The event also celebrated the 70th wedding anniversary of Langejans and his wife, Vonnie.

Former Chorale members who sang under Langejans’ direction rejoined the ensemble to perform several of his favorite pieces. The program also featured Haydn’s Little Organ Mass, showcasing guest soprano Jenny Judd Reyes and rising Grand Rapids organist Noah Smith.
Organizers encouraged supporters to consider donating to the Cal and Vonnie Langejans Endowment Fund at the Community Foundation Holland/Zeeland to assist long-term arts funding in the area.
