MSP investigating after fire engine strikes pedestrian
A 25-year-old pedestrian was hospitalized Friday afternoon after being struck by a Georgetown Township fire engine at a local intersection.
GEORGETOWN TWP. — A 25-year-old pedestrian was hospitalized Friday afternoon after being struck by a Georgetown Township fire engine at a local intersection.
Emergency responders — including the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office, Georgetown Township Fire Department, and LIFE EMS — were dispatched to the intersection of Baldwin Street and 28th Avenue at approximately 12:32 p.m. following reports of a vehicle-versus-pedestrian collision.
According to preliminary investigative findings, the fire engine was traveling westbound on Baldwin Street and turning south onto 28th Avenue when it collided with the pedestrian, who was crossing 28th Avenue on the south side of the intersection.
Paramedics with LIFE EMS transported the victim to a nearby hospital for treatment. Authorities have not yet released details on the extent of his injuries. Neither the driver nor the passenger inside the fire engine was injured.

The investigation into the incident has been turned over to the Michigan State Police and remains ongoing.
