Bonnie Lynn (Casemier) Bloom

March 31, 1940-August 25, 2026

Bonnie Lynn Bloom, age 86, of Grand Haven, passed away on Tuesday, August 25, 2026, at Christian Haven Home.

She was born on March 31, 1940, in Grand Haven, Michigan, to the late Donald and Margaret (Popp) Casemier. Bonnie married the love of her life, Ronald H. Bloom, on June 13, 1959, in San Diego, California.

Bonnie graduated from Hoover High School in California and was a resident of Grand Haven most of her life. She began her work life early on, working the checkout for her grandfather's store, Henry Casemier's Super Market in Grand Haven. Bonnie later worked as a teller for The Peoples Bank & Trust and ended her working career at the Ottawa County Health Vision Department.

Bonnie was a longtime member of Second Reformed Church, where she was a former choir member. She served her community in various capacities, including former Cub Scout leader, former secretary on the Christian Haven Home Auxiliary Board, and former board member of the Lakeshore Track Club.

Bonnie and Ron enjoyed wintering many years in Florida, and they enjoyed spending time at the family cottage near Baldwin, Michigan. She was an avid reader who loved to spend time with her family, namely her grandchildren and great-granddaughter, by whom she was deeply loved and will be missed.

Bonnie is lovingly remembered and missed by her loving husband of 67 years, Ron; and their children, Lori (Scott) Beck and Doug Bloom, all of Grand Haven; two grandchildren, Andy (Heather) Beck and Brianna Bloom; great-granddaughter, Brooklyn Beck; her sister, Jackie (David) Butts; and brother, Thomas Casemier; in-laws, Steve (Donna) Doornbos; special niece, Barbara (Steve) Huisman; and nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her son, Thomas Bloom (2015); and sister-in-law, Ruth (David) Bush.

The funeral service for Bonnie will take place at 1 p.m. on Monday, August 31, 2026, at Klaassen Family Funeral Home, with Pastors Derek Noorman and Tom VanderLee officiating. Visitation will be 2-4 p.m. on Sunday, August 30, 2026, at the funeral home. Interment will be at Lake Forest Cemetery at a later date.

Dorothy Jeannette Hale

January 31, 1950-August 20, 2026

Dorothy Jeannette Hale, 76 years young, passed away peacefully at home in Hudsonville, Michigan, on Thursday, August 20, 2026.

Dorothy was born in Chicago, Illinois, on January 31, 1950, to Gloria Wilson. After graduating from Morgan Park High School in 1968, she attended the University of Illinois for an associate's degree. She went on to work for Montgomery Ward Life Insurance, and later for Shamrock Recruiting, where she met her future husband.

Dorothy met her love, Dillon “Matt” Hale, when she was 19 years old, and they were married on October 30, 1972, in Oak Park, Illinois. Matt’s three children — Kimberly (née Hale) Hrobsky, Kevin Hale, and KayCee (née Hale) Crowley — were joined by the addition of Kerri (née Hale) Johnson, Kristi Hale, Kelly Hale, and Karen (née Hale) Suzara. The family grew again by nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Dorothy worked hard to make sure her family knew they were loved, and to bring beauty into their lives through all things. Though she never considered herself an artist, Dorothy loved to draw, watercolor, and sketch. She planted award-winning gardens, using flowers to color the inside and outside of her home. A lover of music and art, Dorothy’s spirit was fed through beautiful music and several forms of art. She encouraged her family to feed their spirits too, through whatever spoke to them.

Dorothy made friends wherever she went, and one of her many gifts was to make someone feel seen and loved. She was known for her exceptional brownies, but could also throw together meals for 15 people like it was a normal Tuesday.

The last few years were a struggle as she navigated an ailing body and a strong mind. On a lovely sunny day, Dorothy passed comfortably in her own home, in her own bed, embraced in love.

Preceded in death by her husband (August 26, 2023), Dorothy and Matt are together again.

There will be a celebration of her life at a later date. In lieu of sending flowers, please share her favorite past times. Plant something that makes you happy, make something pretty, feed someone you love, and tell everyone you love that they make your world a better place.

Sandy Nicole (Cantu) Lopez

Sandy Nicole (Cantu) Lopez, age 32, of Muskegon, died unexpectedly on Thursday, August 20, 2026.

Sandy Nicole was born in Weslaco, Texas. Her years were spent seeking personal growth and using her own experiences to help those around her. She had an entrepreneurial spirit, often working in various hospitality settings while envisioning a career that would help those around her.

Her last few years were spent continuing to improve herself, being high on life, and being a wonderful mother to her four sons. In addition, Sandy was a great daughter, sister, niece, cousin, and friend- a fierce protector and advocate to those she loved. She took comfort in expressing this love in cooking for her loved ones.

Sandy is survived by her husband, Joseph Vela; children, Elyias Rey Lopez, Jairo Joel Lopez, Jovannie Alexander Cervantes, and William Santiago Walters; parents, Isabel Jaramillo and Reynaldo Cantu Jr; siblings, Adam Jaramillo Jr., Joseph Matthew Jaramillo, Carlos Alejandro Cantu, Carla Alejandra Cantu; grandparents, Jesus Gonzalez Jr. and Enedina Zamora; aunts and uncles Norma (Michael) Vela Sanchez, Sandy (Jorge) Martinez, Hilaria (Eduardo) Rivera, Laura (Joel) Zuidema, Eliza (Rudy Jr) Perez, Jennifer Salinas (Chris), Edna (Jose) Loera, and Carmelita Trevino.

She was preceded in death by her grandmother, Juanita Gonzalez, and uncle, Rene Villarreal.

Visitation for Sandy will be 6-9 p.m. Friday, August 28, 2026, at Langeland-Sterenberg Funeral Home, 315 E. 16th St., Holland. Memorial contributions may be given to help with funeral expenses.

Shirley Anne Schregardus

December 14, 1928-August 16, 2026

Shirley Schregardus went to be with her Lord on August 16, 2026.

She was surrounded by her family.
 
She was born on December 14, 1928, to Mr. and Mrs. Frank Wierda in Holland, Michigan. She graduated from Holland High School in 1947. On August 11, 1950, she married Leonard (“Nick”) Schregardus and relocated to the Muskegon area. She joined Covenant Community Church in 1951 and served in many capacities. She and her husband enjoyed camping, wintering in Florida, and traveling domestically and internationally. Shirley was also an avid golfer, playing into her 90s.
 
She is survived by three siblings, Elaine Zwiep, Roger Wierda, and Beverly Bos. She leaves behind her three daughters, Kathy (Russ) Smiley of Palm Beach Gardens, Florida; Karen (Steve) Bruining of Spring Lake, Michigan: and Barbara (Jeff) Griffith of Fort Mill, South Carolina. She also leaves seven grandchildren: Katie Peeler, Kristen Diviney, Stephanie Amundsen, Patrick Bruining, Hayley Correa, Payton Griffith, and Gaelin Sema and seven great-grandchildren: Parker Peeler, Margot Diviney, Pierce Diviney, Maeve Diviney, Penelope Amundsen, Rylee Bruining, and Kennedy Correa.

Shirley was proud of her family, dedicated to their well-being, and delighted in spending time with them.
 
Visitation will be 2-3 p.m. on September 12, 2026, with a memorial service to follow. The location of the service is yet to be determined.

Diane M. Sherman

October 26, 1960-August 21, 2026

Diane Marie Sherman passed away on August 21, 2026, at the age of 65.

She was born on October 26, 1960, in Grand Rapids, Michigan, and grew up in Spring Lake, where she graduated from Spring Lake High School.

Diane spent much of her professional life working as an administrative assistant for Burns & Bowne Adjusting Co. before retiring in 2024.

Diane had a vibrant personality and was passionate about the things she enjoyed. She especially loved line dancing, attending concerts, and camping with friends. Whether she was dancing to a favorite song, enjoying live music, or spending time around a campsite, Diane embraced the experiences that brought her happiness. Her energy and enthusiasm were unmistakable, and she made many memories through the friendships and activities that filled her life.

Diane also loved her granddaughters. She treasured the time she spent with them and was proud to be their grandmother.

Diane is survived by her two sons, Joshua (Krystin) Sherman and Nathan Sherman (Sarah Owens); her four granddaughters, Evelyn, Caroline, Vivian, and Eloise Sherman; three siblings, Mike Greenbauer, Steve (Katy) Greenbauer, and Susie Greenbauer; as well as many nieces, nephews, extended relatives, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Mary Jane and Russell Greenbauer, and her niece, Gabby Greenbauer.

Those who knew Diane will remember her vibrant spirit, her strong personality, and the passion she brought to the people, places, and experiences that mattered to her.

A celebration of life will be 5-7 p.m. September 10, 2026, at the Spring Lake Chapel of the Sytsema Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 211 E. Savidge St. in Spring Lake, MI 49456. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Mary Ruth Vander Kooy

November 7, 1935-August 25, 2026

Mary Ruth Vander Kooy (Burggraaff), age 90, passed away on Tuesday, August 25, 2026, in Holland, Michigan

Born on November 7, 1935, in Amsterdam, New York, Mary graduated from Watervliet High School, Watervliet, New York, in 1952 and then from Hope College, Holland, Michigan, in 1956.

She married Edward James Vander Kooy on June 28, 1957, who preceded her in death in 2022 after 65 years of marriage. Her parents, Rev. Henry and Ruth (Hardie) Burggraaff, also preceded her in death.

She is survived by her son, David Vander Kooy; daughter, Barbara (Doug) Panhorst; grandchildren, Mark Panhorst and Erin (Mike) Schneider; great-grandchild, James Schneider; and brother, John (Jackie) Burggraaff.

Mary loved to volunteer and remain active in many church activities at Christ Memorial Church in Holland, including Vacation Bible School teacher, Women’s Circle, Sunday School teacher, Kid’s Hope mentor, and a Steven’s Minister. Ed and Mary were members at Christ Memorial for over 60 years.

Mary loved her cats, sweet treats and holiday décor. In more recent years, Mary loved being a grandmother to Mark and Erin and had the good fortune of knowing great-grandson James for two years.

A funeral service will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday, August 29, at Christ Memorial Church Chapel, 595 Graafschap Road, Holland, MI 49423. Rev. Judy Nelson presiding. Visitation will be held one hour prior. Mary will be laid to rest at a private family burial.

Joan Elizabeth Voorhorst

September 13, 1934-August 25, 2026

Joan Voorhorst, age 91, of Hamilton, passed away on Tuesday, August 25, 2026.

Joan is survived by her children, Jeff and Nancy Voorhorst, LuAnn and Gene Weener, and Rick and Cindy Voorhorst; 12 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren; her sister, Alice and Glen Vander Kolk.

Joan was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, Allen Voorhorst, in 2021.

Joan was a dedicated wife and mother, and she adored her grandchildren as well as great- and great-great-grandchildren. She enjoyed baking and knitting when she had the time. Joan's faith was a central part of her life, and she was a dedicated children's Sunday School teacher at Overisel Reformed Church for 28 years, where she left a lasting legacy.

A funeral service will be at 1 p.m. on Saturday, August 29, 2026, at Overisel Reformed Church, 4706 142nd St., Holland. Visitation, prior to the service at the church, will begin at noon on Saturday. Interment will be in Overisel Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be given to Overisel Reformed Children's Sunday School. Arrangements are by Yntema Funeral Home. Walker Timothy Williams

March 17, 1961-August 25, 2026

Walker Timothy Williams, Walker T, Mr. Williams, Uncle Timmy, Papa, Tim passed away early in the morning on August 25, 2026.

At just 65 years young, cancer took him far too soon from the family and friends who loved him.

Born in March of 1961 in Columbus, Ohio, Tim grew up on Lake Macatawa in Holland. He attended Holland High School before heading to Michigan State University, where he studied Health Education. Eventually, he dove into a career in sales, spending time as a showroom manager at NBC Supply Company, decades leading sales with Richards showroom selling high-end bath supplies, and later spending time in retail with Art Van Furniture.

He met the love of his life, Lesa, in Saugatuck, wooing her as a “beach boy” and spending the next 40 years building a life together. They married in the summer of 1989 and immediately wanted to start a family. Fatherhood was something that Tim had deeply looked forward to and cherished most. He and Lesa endured some impossibly hard times, especially after losing their youngest daughter, yet their love and infatuation for one another was impossible not to witness and admire, as was their relentless playful banter and their epic dance moves.

Together, Lesa and Tim raised their two daughters in the Saugatuck area; these formative years included Tim’s insatiable appetite for building, renovating, and selling houses. They moved every couple of years, living in 16 different houses, with the help of his handy brothers. His brothers were not just family; they were his very closest friends, partners in competitions, countless projects, moves, and memorable stories. Some of Tim’s fondest years were spent living in the residential neighborhoods of Clearview Lane and Sambroek Lane.

Tim was happiest on a court or a course, around a table eating a home-cooked meal, playing games with "his" grandbabies, frolicking near the lake, or soaking up the warmth of Melbourne Beach. He was a charming salesman, someone who loved to overindulge and a man who was perhaps most content reading in the comfort of home. He had a huge, sensitive heart that could bring him to instant tears over sappy commercials, and he was an avid sports fan who never missed watching a Michigan State game.

Every person who was close to Tim, in any chapter of his life, immediately mentions his notable sense of humor. He had a way of turning almost anything into a joke, sometimes with big gestures, ridiculous faces, goofy noises, perfectly timed bodily humor, and the kind of unapologetically immature jokes that somehow never got old. He was notorious for making people belly-laugh-snort. His contagious, bellowing laughter would echo through any room, and before long, wild stories were being told (yet again).

His grandchildren especially adored this side of him. Papa never seemed to outgrow his inner teenage boy, and they loved him all the more for it.

Even as his world became smaller, his ability to crack a joke and make his girls feel lighter never left him. Through it all, Tim kept making the people around him laugh with his goofy, boisterous humor. He suffered through a grueling year of treatment and countless hospital stays, but right until the end, he was making all of us (and his care team) giggle.

He leaves behind his wife, Lesa; daughter, Whitney and William Valentine; his beloved grandchildren, Waldyn, Wrennly, and Wylder Valentine; and his siblings, Skip and Gretchen Williams, Eddie and Angela Williams, and Wendy Williams and Jeff Reinink; three sisters-in-law; father-in-law, Jerry Arnett, as well as many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Halie Williams; his parents, Chuck and Gloria Williams; and his brothers, Stark and Scott Williams.

Per his request, there will be no traditional service. Instead, there will be a rambunctious family gathering with dancing and ice-cold beer.
