Katherine Landry Bicicchi

October 5, 1946-July 7, 2026

Katherine Landry Bicicchi passed on July 7, 2026, at the age of 79.

She was a resident of Holland, Michigan, and no services are being planned at this time.


Kenneth J. DeVree

August 16, 1932-July 9, 2026

Kenneth J. DeVree, aged 93, passed away on Thursday, July 9, 2026.

Ken was preceded in death by his wife, Mary; his brothers, Rob and Carl DeVree, and his sister, Charlene Alward.

He is survived by his brother, George DeVree; his sons, Kurt (Pamela) DeVree, Klay (Peggy) DeVree, and Kris (Allison) DeVree; grandchildren, Kassidy (Myles) Brown, Kody DeVree, Brittany Brown, Mary (Drew) DeMull, Casey DeVree, Braden (Melissa) DeVree, and Colton DeVree; and great-granddaughters, Alice, Elizabeth, and Isabelle DeMull, and Marleah and Iris Brown.

As a youth, Ken earned his Eagle Scout award through the Hudsonville Boy Scout Troop 20. He served his country in the Army stationed at Colorado Springs in the early 1950s. Ken was a charter member of Fellowship Church in Hudsonville. Ken served the Hudsonville community in his multigenerational family business, providing electrical, plumbing and HVAC services to many homeowners and businesses in the community. He also served on the Hudsonville School Board in the 1970s.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, July 15, at 11 a.m. at VanderLaan Funeral Home. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. on Tuesday, July 14, and 10-11 a.m. on Wednesday at VanderLaan Funeral Home.

Tommy Rance Jones

April 4, 1948-July 9, 2026

Tommy Rance Jones, 78, of West Olive, Michigan, was born April 4, 1948, and went home to be with his Lord and savior on Thursday, July 9, 2026.

A long-time member of Ventura Baptist Church, Tommy held close the words that shaped his faith and outlook, often returning to his favorite biblical phrase: “In the beginning God ...” In that steady conviction, many knew a man grounded in reverence and purpose.

Tommy built a life marked by dedication and skill. He worked at BLD Products for 25 years, serving as Lead Electrical Design Technician, and brought to his work both careful precision and quiet reliability. He also earned an associate's degree of electrical engineering, reflecting a disciplined mind and a lifelong respect for learning.

Beyond his profession, Tommy found deep enjoyment in the things that engaged his hands and imagination. He loved woodworking, game design, computers, video games, and fishing — interests that spoke to both thoughtful craftsmanship and enduring curiosity. Tommy will be remembered with sincere respect and gratitude by all who knew him.

Tommy was preceded in death by his parents, Rance and June Jones.

Tommy is survived by his wife of 52 years, Bonnie Jones; children, Diana (Gerin) Woodbury, Daniel (Valerie) Jones, and Christina (Clay) Ashby; grandchildren, Aidan (Sarah) Woodbury, Raze Woodbury, Kaylee Ashby, Alder Jones, and Tilia Jones; and aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Visitation will be 10-11 a.m. on July 14, 2026, at Lakeshore Memorial Services, 11939 James St., Holland, Michigan 49424, with a funeral service taking place at 11 a.m.

Darwin Lee Koops

June 15, 1946-July 9, 2026

Darwin Koops, age 80, passed away on Thursday, July 9, 2026.

Dar was married to his wife, Judy, for 60 years. He was a proud businessman, having owned Koops Well Drilling in Holland, Michigan, for 30 years. He was a faithful young people's leader/volunteer and enjoyed those relationships his entire life. His happy place was driving his Farmall tractor on his hobby farm. He invested his volunteer time in Turning Point Missions in Haiti, drilling and repairing wells. He had a hard work ethic, a quick wit, but most of all - He loved his family and was proud of each of them. He was deeply loved and will be dearly missed.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Alvin and Jeanette Koops; sister, Lonnie Nykerk; brothers-in-law, Vern VanOss, Cal Hoffman; and parents-in-law, John and Theresa VanOss.

He is survived by his wife, Judy Koops; children, Lance and Theresa Koops, Renee and Eric Fogg, Tonya and Andrew Peceny; grandchildren, Monika Koops, Emerson Koops, Adrianne and Jarret Ochsendorf, Kevin and Natalie Fogg, Joshua Fogg, Jacob Fogg, Kassidy Borgman, Porter Borgman; sister, Linda Koops; brother, Wes and Glenda Koops; sister, Jean (Bill Buikema) Hoffman; in-laws, Jeff Nykerk, Jan VanOss, Nancy and Ken Kortering, Carol Hightower, Steve and Anna VanOss; nieces, nephews, and extended family.

Visitation with the family is from 4-7 p.m. on Tuesday, July 14, 2026, at Park Christian Reformed Church, 1496 W. 32nd St., Holland, MI 49423.

A celebration of life is at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, July 15, 2026, also at Park Christian Reformed Church, with the Rev. Daniel Steen and the Rev. Jen Rozema officiating. Friends are encouraged to drive their classic cars to the celebration of life in honor of Dar.

Burial to take place in East Saugatuck Cemetery.

Ronald W. "Ron" Letenyei Jr.

October 14, 1967-July 8, 2026

Ronald William “Ron” Letenyei Jr., 58, of Spring Lake, Michigan, passed into the loving arms of Jesus on July 8, 2026, after battling ongoing heart issues.

Born on October 14, 1967, in Detroit, Michigan, to Ronald and Donna (Strzelecki) Letenyei Sr., he earned a bachelor’s degree in Youth Ministry and Counseling from William Tyndale College. Ron was a member of Harvest Church, and at one time, he took part in the production ministry. Ron committed his life to the Lord at a young age and served God in Youth Ministry for many years. 

At the time of his passing, he was working in sales for Xfinity/Comcast in Norton Shores, Michigan. He was a natural comedian and could turn any situation into something to laugh about. Ron had a deep passion for jam band music and loved attending concerts. Other hobbies included photography and drone flying, VW buses and camping, and in his younger years, while living in California, biking, surfing and skateboarding.  But his greatest hobby was seeking out and eating great food and sharing about it on his social media.

When Ron’s parents moved back to Michigan in 1989, he followed and started attending William Tyndale College, which is where he met his soon-to-be bride, Valerie (Moore) Letenyei. On July 27, 1991, they married in Rockwood, Michigan. 

Valerie survives him along with their two daughters, Leah (Trevor Carr) Letenyei and Holly Rae Letenyei; mother, Donna Letenyei; sister, Danielle Letenyei; father-in-law, James Moore; and brothers-in-law, Jonathan (Sheri) Moore, Brian (Bridget) Moore, and many beloved nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

Ron was preceded in death by his father, Ronald Letenyei Sr., and his mother-in-law, Beatrice Moore; grandparents, Roman Strzelecki, Lucille Strzelecki, William Letenyei and Blenda Letenyei.

Funeral services for Ron at 11 a.m. on Friday, July 17, 2026, at Harvest Church, Spring Lake Campus, 225 E. Exchange, Spring Lake, MI 49456, with Pastor Dan Cook officiating. Visitation with the family will be 5-7 p.m. on Thursday, July 16, 2026, at the Spring Lake Chapel of Sytsema Funeral and Cremation Services, 213 E. Savidge St., Spring Lake, MI 49456.

Kris Michmerhuizen

March 1, 1944-July 10, 2026

Kris Michmerhuizen, age 82 of Holland, went home to be with her Lord and Savior Friday, July 10, 2026.

She is survived by her husband of 60 years Max; her children, Mark and Tammy Michmerhuizen, Matthew and Indirah Michmerhuizen, Michael and Laura Michmerhuizen, and Stephen and Julie Michmerhuizen; her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Nicole and Clarence Pascual (Josiah and Madison), Anna Michmerhuizen, Seth Michmerhuizen, Luke Michmerhuizen, Marielle Michmerhuizen, Ivan Michmerhuizen, Siobhan Michmerhuizen, Evan Michmerhuizen, Mallory Michmerhuizen, Michael Michmerhuizen, Benjamin Michmerhuizen, Kristen Michmerhuizen, Micah Michmerhuizen, and Susanna Michmerhuizen; her siblings, Mary and Donald Swierenga, and John and Cindy Vogelzang; and her sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Lila Peters, Lillian Vanden Heuvel, Paul and Kathi Michmerhuizen, and Janet and Bruce Davis.

Kris graduated from Holland Christian High School and Calvin College with a degree in elementary education. She taught at Rose Park Christian School for a short time and then stayed at home to raise her family. Kris was a longtime member of North Street Christian Reformed Church; she was very involved with ministry inside and outside the church. Music was a big part of Kris’ life; she played the flute in the American Legion Band and was accompanied by Marie Blauwkamp in the “Ivory and Silver Duo” ministering in nursing homes and churches.

Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Sunday, July 12, 2026, at Langeland-Sterenberg Funeral Home, 315 E. 16th St., Holland. The funeral service to honor the life of Kris will be held 11 a.m. Monday, July 13, 2026, at North Street Christian Reformed Church, 20 E. Main St., Zeeland. Interment will be in Pilgrim Home Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be given to the Blaise Pascal Endowment Fund at Holland Christian Schools.

Kraig Schaafsma

October 29, 1955-July 8, 2026

Kraig Schaafsma, 70, of Holland, Michigan, passed away on July 8, 2026.

He was born on October 29, 1955.

Kraig was married to his wife, Nancy, for the last 50 years. They were married on June 11, 1976, and the family had just celebrated together the previous Sunday. Throughout his life, Kraig’s steady devotion was evident in the way he ordered his days and his priorities — God first, Nancy second — and in the faithful example he set of what it means to be a godly man who places family at the center.

Kraig retired in 2020 following a career as a tool engineer. After retirement, he enjoyed working at Vandenberg Stereo. He also treasured time spent with family at the cottage up north, and vacations with friends where he spent days under the Palapa.

Kraig was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Wilma Schaafsma; his sister, Kaylene Johnson; his mother- and father-in-law, Everett and Julia Plooster; his brother-in-law, Jim Plooster; his brother-in-law, Bob Plooster; and his brother-in-law, Ed Bredeweg.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 50 years, Nancy Schaafsma; his son, Michael (Kylea) Schaafsma, and their children, Jaiden and Alex; his daughter, Julie (Josh) Miles, and their three daughters, Everlyn, Isabel, and Peyton; his twin brother, Kurt (Lynn) Schaafsma; his sister, Sue (David) Brondyke; his sisters-in-law, Bonnie (Dave) Vandermeer, Sally Bredeweg, Sharon Plooster, and Joanne Plooster; brother-in-law, Ron Johnson; along with many nieces and nephews, and many close friends.

Visitation will be 10-11 a.m. Thursday, July 16, 2026, at Ridge Point Community Church, 340 104th St., Holland, Michigan 49423. A memorial service will follow at 11 a.m.

Bryce Ellis Tooker

February 13, 1996-July 6, 2026

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Bryce Ellis Tooker, who passed away on Monday, July 6, 2026, at the age of 30.

Bryce was a proud American who honorably served his country in the United States Navy. His military service reflected the deep love and respect he had for his country, a source of pride that remained with him throughout his life.

Bryce was known for his incredible work ethic and unwavering determination. He never shied away from hard work and approached every challenge with resilience, grit, and a willingness to help wherever he was needed. More than anything, Bryce was fiercely loyal to the people he loved. If you were fortunate enough to be part of his circle, you knew you could count on him. He was the kind of friend who would drop everything to lend a hand, offer support, or simply show up when it mattered most. His generosity, dependability, and quiet strength earned him the respect and friendship of so many.

Bryce embraced life with a spirit of adventure. He loved traveling, spending time outdoors, and riding motorcycles. A devoted Harley-Davidson enthusiast, he owned and worked on many motorcycles over the years and found peace and freedom on the open road. Whether sharing stories with friends, taking a ride, or enjoying time on the water, Bryce appreciated life's simple moments and the people who shared them with him.

Bryce is survived by his beloved son, Daniel Tooker; his father, Ray Tooker; his siblings, Trevor (Lori) Tooker, Traci (Rick) Costen, Jason (Bethany) Tooker, Alicia (Brandon) Tooker Roeske, and Joshua (Katelyn) Tooker; along with many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and countless friends who will forever cherish his memory.

He was preceded in death by his loving mother, Christine Lundholm Tooker.

Bryce's life was far too short, but the impact he made on those who knew and loved him will never be forgotten. He will be remembered for his hardworking spirit, his patriotism, his loyal heart, and the unwavering friendship he gave so freely to others. Though he is gone from our sight, his love, laughter, and memory will remain in the hearts of all who knew him.

Visitation will be noon-2 p.m. on Sunday, July 19, 2026, followed by a celebration of life from 2-3 p.m. at Klaassen Family Funeral Home, 1500 Robbins Road, Grand Haven, MI, 49417. Family and friends are invited to gather to honor and celebrate Bryce's life.

Jonathan Bryant Young

March 15, 1953-June 21, 2026

Jonathan Bryant Young, age 73, passed away on Sunday, June 21, 2026, at Turning Leaf Behavioral Health Services, in Vicksburg, Michigan.

He was born March 15, 1953, in Grand Haven to Grant and Edith (Sevrey) Young, Sr.

Jonathan attended Grand Haven High School. He enjoyed playing football and playing guitar in a rock band. Jonathan loved watching western movies and shows. He also enjoyed car rides and browsing National Geographic.

He is lovingly remembered by his brother, Grant (Sharon) Young Jr.; and good friend Dan Artibee.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Paul Young, and sister-in-law, InSon Young.

Sugie Young

September 16, 1941-July 7, 2026

Sugie Young, 84, died peacefully in her sleep on July 7, 2026, at her home in Holland, Michigan, surrounded by her three sons and her family, after a long struggle with Alzheimer’s disease.

Born September 16, 1941, in Cincinnati, Ohio, she was the daughter of Lucien Benson Layne and Elizabeth Morris Layne. Sugie began her education at Bennett College before completing her undergraduate degree and a master’s degree in social work at Rutgers University.

Sugie had a huge heart, and she went on to practice social work in New Jersey for 15 years, dedicating herself to the well-being of others. She was always looking for ways to help and connect with people, and she had a gift for making new acquaintances feel welcome and comfortable — a quality that touched everyone who knew her.

She loved playing tennis, paddle tennis and golf, and is the only one in her family to card a hole-in-one. In her spare time, she loved to needlepoint, crochet and knit, in addition to crafting custom jewelry, a passion that brought joy to many of her family and friends.

Sugie was initially married to Edward G. Webb Jr., with whom she had three children, Edward Gedney Webb III, Jeffrey Morris Webb, and Lucien Gex Webb, and later married to Stuart A.

“Rusty” Young III up until 2015. She made her permanent home in Castle Park, Michigan, for the past two decades, where she had been an avid member of the community since she first visited at the early age of 3.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her two brothers, Lucien Layne and Thomas Layne.

Elizabeth is survived by her three sons and daughters-in-law, Ged and Nikki Webb, Jeff and Liz Webb, and Luke and Christina Webb, and six grandchildren, Lexie, Cole, Nolan, Jack, Layne, and Emmie, who will carry forward her warmth and her love of family.
