Pedro Sanchez Perez

December 29, 1952-July 13, 2026

Pedro Sanchez-Perez, age 73, of Holland, passed away Monday, July 13, 2026, at Trinity Health Hospital in Grand Rapids following a short illness.

Pedro was born in Monte Escobdo, Zacatecas, Mexico and immigrated to the U.S. on July 17, 2005. He was a member at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church and worked at Request Foods for the last 10 years.

Pedro was the definition of a hard-working man with impeccable work ethics. He did not get to retire, working all of his life since he was a kid. During his time in Mexico, he worked from dawn to dusk in the farm, feeding the animals, taking care of the crops, working as a lumberjack, looking for the occasional missing calf that went on its own adventure, and working on any other odd job that needed attention. He even worked in the local town hall for a period of time. In the U.S., he didn't stop working, often being recognized for his perfect attendance.

Pedro was a family man and a man for the people. He enjoyed a good hike and trips with his family. Everywhere he went, he made friends. If he went on errands and was taking too long, his wife often said, "he must have found someone to talk to," and he would come back with news of finding an acquaintance or making a new friend. He did not miss a chance to crack a joke or tell you an anecdote.

Pedro was often described as a respectful, humble, hardworking, friendly, lively person. His passing has left an empty space in our lives, but he has also gifted us with amazing memories of the amazing father, husband, brother, friend, and overall good quality of a person he was during his time on this earth.

Pedro was preceded in death by his parents, Jose Sanchez Barragán & Maria del Carmen Perez de Santiago.

Pedro is survived by his wife of 46 years, Maria Irene Hernandez Dorado; children,
Pedro Sanchez, Hilda Sanchez, Oscar Sanchez, Karen Sanchez and Hanely Sanchez; grandchildren, Abril, Zuri, Itzel, Aysel, Nirelle, Braulio and Malinalli; siblings, Victoria, Mercedes, Anita, Miguel, Ignacio, Antonio, Jose Maria, Margarita and Cruz Enrique.

A funeral Mass is scheduled for 10 a.m. Saturday, July 18, at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church, 171 W. 13th St., Holland, with Fr. Luis Garcia officiating. Burial will be in Pilgrim Home Cemetery. Visitation is planned for 6-8 p.m. (Wake Prayers at 7:30 p.m.) on Friday, July 17, at Langeland-Sterenberg Funeral Home, 315 E. 16th St., Holland.

Special thanks to every hospital staff member at Holland Hospital and Trinity Health who cared for him during his last days and made accommodations for his wife, daughters, and sons to be by his side.

Condolences may be left online at langelandsterenberg.com.
