Millie Bartels, age 83, of Zeeland, passed away Wednesday, July 29, 2026.

She is survived by her husband of 61 years Bruce; her children, Brian and Lauri Bartels, Nancy and Rob Tasma, Thom and Tricia Bartels, and Chad and Sue Bartels; her grandchildren, Ben and Hannah Bartels, Anna and Alec Lopez, Allie and Isaiah Prindle, Bobby Tasma, Mila Tasma, Tessa and Josiah Nosser, Tara Bartels and her son Amir, Ty Bartels, Abby Bartels, Ava Bartels, and Jonah Bartels; her sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Diane Bartels, Lynn and Les Bull, David and Barbara Bartels, Christine and Dan Taylor, Bill and Kathy Bartels, Pat and Steve Brinks; and many nieces and nephews.

Millie was preceded in death by her siblings, Willis and Alverna Timmer, Marie Timmer, Gertrude Timmer, Henrietta Timmer, Winifred and Marvin Van Kampen, and Esther and Roger Koning.

Millie was a member of Faith Reformed Church in Zeeland, and she was a hostess at Russ’ Eastown for 46 years.

Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Sunday, August 2, 2026, at Yntema Funeral Home, 251 S. State St., Zeeland. The funeral service to honor Millie will be at 11 a.m. Monday, August 3, 2026, at Faith Reformed Church, 220 W. Central Ave., Zeeland. Interment will be in Zeeland Cemetery. Beverley Jean (Larson) Brown

January 10, 1941-July 28, 2026

Beverley "Bev" Jean Brown, age 85, of Muskegon, passed away on July 28, 2026, at Robbinswood Assisted Living.

Bev was born on January 10, 1941, in Muskegon, Michigan, to Einar and Jessie (Hemphill) Larson. Bev married Raymond Brown on June 25, 1966, and they treasured 49 years of marriage before his passing on January 13, 2016.

Bev graduated from Muskegon Heights High School and went on to build a career as a secretary in the manufacturing industry. In her free time, she enjoyed fishing, camping at Bass Lake in Irons, Michigan, and trips to the casino. She was especially known for her cherished Swedish meatball recipe and found great joy in preparing and sharing her delicious dishes with family and friends. Above all, Bev's greatest love was her family. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren meant the world to her, and she rarely missed an opportunity to cheer them on at their sporting events and other activities.

Bev is survived by her daughter, Denise (Jeff) Laufersky; grandchildren, Jacob Laufersky, Jordan Laufersky, and Kaelyn (Cody) Carmean; great-grandchildren, Josie, Theodore "T-Boy", and Noa Carmean; and sister, Nancy Chartrand.

Bev was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Raymond Brown; brother, Jim (Nancy) Larson; and brothers-in-law, Ed Chartrand, and Bill (Nancy) Balccom.

Private family services will be held. Interment will be at Sunrise Memorial Gardens.

Loretta Kay Dahlke

April 17, 1949-July 22, 2026

Loretta Kay Dahlke, age 77, of Jenison, Michigan, passed away peacefully on July 22, 2026, after a courageous battle with Parkinson’s and dementia.

Born on April 17, 1949, in Grand Rapids, Michigan, Lorrie was the beloved child of Bernard and Mariam Berrevoets. She graduated from Grand Rapids Christian and went on to Hope College in Holland and later Western University to achieve her master’s in education.

Loretta dedicated much of her life to her Christian faith, family, and her friends. She would teach children by day in Wyoming and was den mother for Cub Scouts in the evening, and taught Sunday school at Fairhaven Church.

Lorrie is survived by sons, Randy (Qun) Dahlke and Michael (Rachel) Dahlke; grandchildren, Quintin and Alyx Dahlke, Jude and Phillip Berndtson; sisters, Barb (David) Donker, Mary VanderKolk, and Marlys Berrevoets.

Lorrie was preceded in death by her husband, Gregory Dahlke, and brother, Daniel Berrevoets.

Though our hearts are heavy, we find comfort knowing that Lorrie’s love, laughter, and legacy will continue to live on in the lives she touched. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.

Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Friday, July 31, 2026, at Cook Memorial Chapel (East Building), 4235 Prairie St. SW, Grandville, MI 49418. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, August 1, 2026, at Fair Haven Church, 2900 Baldwin St., Hudsonville, MI 49426, with visitation from 10-11 a.m. prior to the service. A luncheon will follow.

Theodore "Ted" Duarte

September 15, 1947-July 27, 2026

Theodore "Ted" Duarte, age 78, of Grand Haven, passed away on Monday, July 27, 2026, at Trinity Health Muskegon Hospital.

He was born on September 15, 1947, in Muskegon, Michigan, to the late Florencio and Rose (Shaganaby) Duarte.

Ted graduated from St. Mary's Catholic High School and went on to proudly serve his country in the US Army. He was a proud member of the V.F.W. Post # 3734 in Muskegon and was a member of the Nottawaseppi Huron Band of the Potawatomi (NHBP).

Ted will be forever remembered and missed by his two brothers, Richard Duarte and Ernest Duarte; as well as several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Michael Duarte; his sisters, Mary Korcz and Ginger Wesaw; his great-nephew, Briar Duarte; and sisters-in-law, Carol Duarte and Catherine Duarte.

A memorial visitation for Ted will be 6-8 p.m. Monday, August 3, 2026, at Klaassen Family Funeral Home. Interment will be at Grand Haven Township Lakeshore Cemetery at a later date.

Judith Ann Faber

October 28, 1939-July 23, 2026

Judith Ann Faber — devoted wife, loving mother and Nana, and second mom to so many — passed away on Thursday, July 23, 2026, in Holland, Michigan, at the age of 86.

Judy was born on October 28, 1939, in Elizabeth, New Jersey. Faith guided her life and shaped her values, and it showed in the way she loved and cared for everyone she met. Her presence brought comfort and kindness to those around her.

Judy earned her bachelor's degree from Hope College and later a master's in religious education from Western Theological Seminary, both in Holland, MI. Those years brought her lifelong friendships and, most importantly, her husband, Jack. Together they raised three children to be caring, loving, and welcoming of others.

Her masterful teaching of the Bethel Bible Series and her spiritual leadership encouraged others to be a light in the world. She shared her gifts selflessly and had a passion for helping people grow in their faith. Judy believed that anyone could find peace and joy, no matter where they were on their path.

Judy was known for hosting gatherings that left no one out, and she always made room at her table. Exchange students, foster children, refugees — anyone with nowhere else to go found a welcome in her home. She knew God loved everyone, without exception, and she lived out that belief with the kindness, compassion, and grace of an angel on earth.

Family was at the center of Judy's life, and she treasured every time they were together, especially their yearly trips to the Jersey Shore. She was a Jersey girl to the core.

Judy was preceded in death by her parents, Gunnar and Betty (Garrett) Eastman; her parents-in-law, Calvin and Frances (Roelofs) Faber; and a chosen daughter, Jeanette Schipper.

She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Jack, whose companionship, support, and love were a constant in her life; and her children, Wendy and Kevin Rebhan of Holland, Michigan, Jim Faber of Richmond, Virginia, and Dan and Jennifer Faber of Pennington, New Jersey.

Judy found great joy in her grandchildren, Nicholas and Jordan Rebhan, Rachel and Braeden Blazek, Daniel Rebhan, Garrett Faber, Elayna Faber, Celeste Faber, and Sydney Faber, and in her chosen grandchildren, Marcella Soto, Austin and Haley Schipper, and Lily Schipper. She was also blessed to know her great-grandson, Harrison Gunnar Blazek, who carries her father's name.

Judy is also survived by her sister, Penny and John Welch of Seaside Park, New Jersey; her sister-in-law, Betty and Howard Jansen of Jenison, Michigan; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Her family will remember her as someone who created lasting memories and traditions they carry on today.

A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday, August 1, 2026, at First Presbyterian Church, 659 State St. in Holland, with Reverend Cathy Hoop officiating.

Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. on Friday, July 31, 2026, at Dykstra Funeral Homes – Mulder Chapel, 188 W. 32nd St. in Holland.

Valory Jean Johnson

August 14, 1946-July 20, 2026

Beautiful Valory Jean Johnson of Zeeland passed away peacefully, surrounded by many loving friends and family, on July 20, 2026, after a year-long battle with cancer.

Valory was born to James McIntyre (of Mackinac Island) and Dorothy Cleland McIntyre (of Grand Rapids). She is also preceded in death by her oldest sister, Colleen, and nephew, Aaron DeBard.

She will be lovingly remembered by her devoted husband of 62 years, Dwight Johnson, and loving son, Mark Johnson.

She will also be remembered by special friends Ginny, Rhonda, Connie, and Dominic. Valory leaves behind a big family with many nieces and nephews she spoiled, including her brother, James McIntyre (Andrew, Jim, Evan, and five grandkids); sister, Mary (Jim) Willer (Heather, Jenay, Jim, Brandon, and ten grandkids); sister, Patricia (Bill) Tarr (Cris, Lauren, Dafne, Sean); brother, John (Linda) McIntyre (Paul, Owen); special nieces Erika (Tye) Steffke, Rebecca Vohs and Javen (Sophie) (great-nephew, Franklin), Leo, Andie, and Lucy Zamojcin.

Every holiday was made special by her artistic handmade cards, gifts, flowers, quilts, and desserts. She celebrated every one she knew. Holidays will not be the same. She was an avid collector (31 Christmas trees) and artist in every way. Her presence brought joy to all (always a treat in her purse for dogs)! She was beautiful inside and out and will be missed by all who knew her.

Thomas Michael Kiger

June 4, 1948-July 21, 2026

Thomas Michael Kiger, lovingly known as Tom — and "Pop Pop" to his three youngest children — passed away peacefully on July 21, 2026, in Grand Rapids, Michigan, surrounded by his devoted wife and children. He was 78 years old.

Born on June 4, 1948, in Holland, Ohio, to Thomas Arthur Kiger and Jean Marie Kiger, Tom grew into a man known for his intelligence, humor, curiosity, and unwavering love for his family.

Tom proudly served his country in the United States Air Force until 1976. He went on to earn his degree from the University of Toledo. He built a career marked by professionalism, integrity, and a strong sense of responsibility in a variety of areas. Most recently, Tom spent 15 years with Farm Bureau Insurance as a Senior Information Risk/Compliance Specialist. Respected for his knowledge, dependability, and steady presence, he took pride in both his work and the relationships he built throughout his career. He retired in 2023, looking forward to spending more time with his family and enjoying the next chapter of life.

Outside of work, Tom was endlessly curious. An avid reader, he especially enjoyed novels by Tom Clancy and Anne Rice. He loved keeping up with emerging technology and could often be found tinkering with his computer. He was a fan of Michigan State football and basketball after moving to Michigan from California and remained a loyal supporter of the Denver Broncos. Many of Tom's happiest memories were made traveling and spending time with those he loved. Summer vacations throughout Georgia, visits to Denver, Colorado to spend time with his older children, most recently a trip to France for his niece’s wedding, and treasured Christmases spent with extended family in Sonoma, California, became beloved family traditions. In more recent years, Red Robin and El Rancho in Holland became favorite gathering places where the staff knew him and his family by name and always welcomed them warmly.

Tom had a mischievous spirit and an unmistakable sense of humor. He loved a good joke, enjoyed making others laugh, and never hesitated to share his opinions or dream big. Yet beneath that playful exterior was a man whose deepest commitment was always to his family. Whether solving a problem or simply ending the day watching the evening news beside his beloved wife, Chris, Tom found his greatest happiness in caring for the people he loved. Although he jokingly insisted he was “anti-cat” his family has plenty of photographic evidence proving otherwise. More often than not, one of the family's four cats — especially Pepito — could be found curled up beside him, receiving a healthy pat on the head and being told he is a “good cat."

One of Tom’s proudest accomplishments was completing the New York City Marathon with his dear friends, Bob Greene and Jim Archuletta, a testament to the determination and perseverance that characterized his life. But if you had asked Tom what he was proudest of, the answer would have been immediate: his family. Nothing brought him greater joy than being a husband, and — perhaps his favorite title of all — a father.

He had an especially close relationship with his son, Daniel, who has autism. They were often joined at the hip and his absence will be felt acutely. Tom was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas Arthur Kiger and Jean Marie Kiger, and by his brothers, Gary A. Kiger and Ronald K. Kiger.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Chris Kiger; his children, Matt Kiger (Un Young), Ali Kiger (Erin White), Marcy Kiger, Julie Kiger (Sam Dixon), and Daniel Kiger; his grandchildren, Alex Kiger, Kayla Kiger, Kylie Fish, and Molly Fish; his siblings, Kathy Stoll, Cheryl Yager, Deborah Lovell, Steven Kiger, and Stacy Munson; sister-in-law, Sara Langen (Gretchen Daniels) and his cherished niece and nephew, Raemy Paterson (John Shuck) and Seth Paterson, along with many extended family members and dear friends whose lives were forever enriched by knowing him.

Malcolm Denis McDonald

September 1, 1944-July 23, 2026

“One child, one teacher, one book, and one pen can change the world.” Malala Yousafzai – I Am Malala.

Here is the story of one child, one teacher, many books, many pens, and how throughout his lifetime he changed the world around him.

Chapter 1 – The United Kingdom, Where It All Began:

Malcolm Denis McDonald, or “Malc” as his family lovingly referred to him, was born on September 1, 1944, to Albert McDonald and Elsie Smith McDonald in Gainsborough, Lincolnshire, UK.

He grew up in Hull, UK, with his older sister Maureen. He loved academics, swimming and European Football, otherwise known as soccer in the US. He enjoyed trips with his dad to see Hull City Football Club and remained interested and engaged in the happenings of the Club all his life. He was educated at Malet Lambert Grammar School and then went on to Leicester University to train to be a teacher, a job which he loved. He taught in Leicester, Wetherby and Knaresborough, where he became deputy headteacher.

Chapter 2 – Loving Husband, Caring Father, Special Grandad, Uncle & Friend:

In 1975, he immigrated to America, where he met his wife Barb, and they were married shortly thereafter. They raised their daughter Heather in Plymouth and Canton, Michigan, where many knew him as “Mac."

After a visit to see Heather at Western Michigan University, Mac and Barb found land in Saugatuck, Michigan, where they built a beautiful home and lived there together for over 30 years.

Mac adored his Mum, Dad, and sister. He was a very loving and caring son. He was an amazing brother, and a wonderful uncle to Wendy and Susan. His nieces remember his open-top MG sports car, him introducing them to fine dining, and his love of ridiculously expensive wine! Mac was always interested in what his great-nephews were doing and would call his sister Maureen every Sunday to chat. She will dearly miss hearing from him. Despite the many miles that separated him from his family in England, he always kept in touch with his friends and loved ones “over the pond."

Family and friends in England enjoyed lovely holidays with Mac and his family when they came to visit. He was always kind, funny and generous. He was a brilliant raconteur with strong opinions, and he gave the biggest hugs in the world! His grandsons Spencer and Parker will never forget his cheers from the bleachers at their soccer games, holiday traditions of English Christmas crackers popping, overflowing Santa sacks, and trips with him up north.

Mac loved hosting dinner parties; being with the people he loved brought him great joy. He enjoyed taking trips to Northern Michigan, and he built a log home there to enjoy the peace, quiet and serenity of Lake Michigan with his family & friends.

Chapter 3 – The Man of Many Talents:

Mac had a passion for reading, writing, theater, dance and photography. These passions were integral in shaping his professional legacy, a legacy which was defined by his sharp entrepreneurial spirit. From Mac’s early days working with his dad Albert in the family insurance business. To assisting in various other family businesses, to Mac founding M.D. McDonald Inc., a corporate communications and instructional media firm.

Mac built the media firm into a powerhouse within the automotive industry. Throughout the '90s, the company served as a primary partner for UAW – FORD’s National Joint Committee on Health and Safety. His work directly shaped the safety culture of the automotive industry, protecting and educating tens of thousands of factory workers.

Mac scaled his expertise from specialized training media to large-scale corporate communications, employee motivation programs, and massive product launches for Fortune 500 companies. His career stood as a testament to the power of impactful writing, professional integrity and an unyielding commitment to excellence.

After retirement, Mac wrote a novel, “Writing from the Outskirts of Hope.” This was his second book; he also wrote and had a book published as a tribute to his Mum titled “Letters from Else 1985 – 1992”. This book details the handwritten correspondence between the two of them after Mac immigrated to America. Mac also engaged in photography and continued his love for reading and books, often reading 15-20 books per month.

Chapter 4 – Blessed With Love, Once More:

Mac often remarked how incredibly fortunate he was to experience the rare gift of true love and friendship twice in his lifetime. Mac loved the ocean. It was always his dream to live on the ocean again. His hometown city of Hull, its rich maritime history and being a major port city in Yorkshire constantly pulled Mac’s heart back to the water. He spent his final years creating memories traveling and forging adventures near the ocean with his warmhearted and cherished partner Veronica, whom he lovingly called Ronnie.

Mac’s smile would light up a room. His laughter would fill your heart with joy. He was taken from us extremely quickly in the end, but his kindness, his care, concern, generosity and protection of others will live with us forever.

Mac leaves to mourn his much-loved daughter, Heather McDonald Chapp (James Chapp); his beloved sister, Maureen Firth (Colin Firth); his cherished partner, Veronica Leshan; his grandchildren, Spencer Chapp and Parker Chapp; two special nieces, Wendy O’Callaghan and Susan Roberts (Joseph Roberts); a dear friend, Gerrard Carpency, and a host of family, friends and other relatives.

Gail Robin (Moseley) Miner

July 28, 1952-July 27, 2026

Gail Robin Miner, age 73, passed away on Monday, July 27, 2026, at Harbor Hospice Poppen Residence in Muskegon, Michigan.

She was born July 28, 1952, in Lakewood, Ohio, to the late Martin W. Moseley Jr. and Evelyn (Lerf) Moseley.

Gail graduated from London High School in 1970 and earned her BA at Muskingum College in New Concord, Ohio, in 1974. Gail married Robert "Rob" Miner, whom she met at Muskingum. They married on June 1st, 1974, in London, Ohio. Upon graduation from Muskingum College, she accepted an elementary school position in Goshen, Ohio, where she taught first and then later sixth grade for a total of 11 years. She was elected President of the Goshen Education Association and oversaw extremely difficult contract negotiations where a teacher's strike was possible. She continued in various other teaching roles in both Pennsylvania and South Dakota while doing additional post-graduate work at seven other universities across the nation. She retired in 2000 from her active role as an educator.

In 2003, she became the first Executive Director for a newly established chapter of Keep America Beautiful, located in Yankton, South Dakota. During her three-year directorship, she directed various Missouri River Clean-up efforts, wrote a newspaper column for the organization, wrote grants, and directed numerous beautification projects around the city, including the installation of an 18-ton granite fountain sculpture at the city's main intersection.

For many years, she and her husband, Rob, were both involved in the sale of antiques and collectibles that were purchased at numerous auctions in South Dakota, North Dakota, and Minnesota. She always enjoyed the thrill of the hunt for that hidden antique treasure and took great enjoyment in telling the tale of the $5 purchase that sold for $900.

While Gail enjoyed needlepoint, reading historical novels, and observing the local area wildlife, it was obvious to those who knew her that her real passion was for gardening.

To Gail, it was all about serving the public and helping others. Below are a few examples from her life.

Donnell Lee Morren

Donnell “Don” Lee Morren, age 84, a Child of God, was called home by him on July 24, 2026.

Rejoicing in his home going, but missing his presence are his devoted wife of 66 years, Lois (Leep) Morren; children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren: Don and Lisa Morren, Jeremiah and Holly; Ron and Laurie Van Dyke, Aaron and Becky Van Dyke, Isaac; Jamie Van Dyke and Ryan Van Dyke; Todd and Linda Morren, Nathan and Mandie Aukeman, Carter and Case; Ross and Liz Morren, Landon and Nolan; Tom and Sheryl Morren, Jordan and Lisa Huttinga, Emma, Sam, Oliver, and Levi; Jacob and Abbey Morren, Brooklyn, Reese, and Ford; Eric and Lindsey DeVries, Josie, Leland, and Margo; James and Alex Morren, Rhodes.

Also surviving are his sister, Norma and Rev. Harry Vriend; brother-in-law, Cornelius Bykerk; in-laws, Arlene Blake, Maryann Van Dyken, Sheri Leep, Linda Leep, and Dorothy Kinna; as well as many dear nieces, nephews, friends, and Cornerstone Church family.

Don was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Henrietta Morren; his siblings, Mary (Sam) Van Der Wiele, Elden (EllaMae) Morren, James (Mary) Morren, and Wilma Bykerk; in-laws, Andrew and Arla Leep, Alex and Claire Kimm, Willard and Fran Leep, William Blake, Ed and Betty Folkersma, Roger Van Dyken, John Kinna, Elden Leep, Jerry Leep, David Leep, and Carolyn Leep.

Funeral services for Don will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, July 30, at Cornerstone United Reformed Church, 6442 36th Ave. Hudsonville, MI 49426. Interment will be in Jamestown Cemetery. Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Wednesday, July 29, at VanderLaan Funeral Home.

Those who wish may make memorial contributions to Hudsonville Christian School or Cornerstone URC Mission Fund.

Cynthia Mary Rademaker

October 21, 1941-July 23, 2026

Born October 21, 1941, in Highland Park, Michigan, to Albert James Braun and Helen Mabel Burkheiser.

She passed away Thursday, July 23, 2026, in Holland, Michigan, at the age of 84.

During her childhood, she spent many enjoyable summers at the family cottage "The Sandtrap" in Caseville, Michigan. Memories of those times led her and her husband, Thomas Rademaker, to build a cottage in Port Sheldon, Michigan (where Thomas spent his boyhood at his family cottage) in the summer of 1971, where they retired to in 2003 and where she was residing at the time of her passing. An excellent cook, seamstress, and crafter, she also enjoyed reading and playing Scrabble.

She is survived by her husband, Thomas Rademaker; her children, Patrick Rademaker and Jill (Paul) Nawrocki; and grandchildren, Alexander Nawrocki (soon to be spouse Pax), Thomas Nawrocki, and Daniel Nawrocki. She is also survived by a nephew, David Froehlich, and three nieces, Diane Conklin, Deborah Glaser and Lisa (Richard) Armand.

She was preceded in death by her brother, Albert; sisters, Barbara and Jacqueline; and brother-in-law, Jerome Froehlich.

A funeral mass will be at 11 a.m. on Friday, July 31, 2026, at Our Lady of the Lake Church, 480 152nd Ave., Holland, MI 49424, with an hour of visitation before the service. Father Michael Burt will be officiating.

Memorial contributions may be given to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Arrangements are by Dykstra Funeral Homes – Northwood Chapel.

Donald John Rouse

June 27, 1935-July 25, 2026

Donald J. Rouse, age 91, went to be with his Lord and savior, Jesus Christ, on Saturday, July 25, 2026.

He was born June 27, 1935, in Berwyn, Illinois, to John and Maxine (Winters) Rouse. Upon the death of Maxine Rouse, Don was lovingly raised by John and Wilma (Morgan) Rouse. Don graduated from Otsego High School. Don attended Trinity College, Grand Rapids School of the Bible and Music and Michigan State University. He married Janis Morris on September 6, 1957, at Bloomingdale Bible Church; they were blessed with 67 years of marriage and four children. He had an entrepreneurial spirit, developing AIM Systems. Don loved serving the Lord in creative ways, leading worship and running sound for Grace Bible Church, as well as traveling with Musical Messengers and running monthly Super Sixties programs. His legacy can be witnessed throughout the family tree that survives him.

Don was preceded in death by his wife, Thelma “Janis” Rouse; daughter, Kristi Joy Rouse; granddaughter, Kayla Jeanne Hills; and siblings, Ella Fiskars, Paul Rouse, Ruth Simington, and Maxine Hawkins.

He will be lovingly remembered by his children, Karri (Jack) McIntyre, Kirby (Joye) Rouse, Kelli (Marvin) Hills; grandchildren, Kristin (Jason) Buskey, Adam (Sarah) McIntyre, Jill (Nate) Humme, Angela (John) Weaver, Amanda (Mike) Elenbaas, Jacob (Zoe’) Hills, Rachel (Wyatt) Bartsch, Joshua, Zachary, and Lauren Hills; great-grandchildren, Zachary, Brooklin, Alexa, and Kendall Buskey, Alistair and Wesley McIntyre, Haleigh, Nolan, and Sydney Weaver, Gwendolyn, Finnegan, and Benjamin Humme, Odyn and Jada Elenbaas; siblings, Joyce (Martin) Stevens, Stephen Rouse, Tim (Dawn) Rouse, Beth (Terry) Rogers; and many in-laws, nieces, nephews, and friends.

Funeral services for Don will be at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, August 8, 2026, with visitation 10-11:15 a.m., at Grace Bible Church, 3715 Wilson Ave. SW, Grandville, Michigan 49418.

Chrun Song

September 10, 1935-July 24, 2026

Chrun Song was born on September 10, 1935, in Cambodia. He passed away on Friday, July 24, 2026.

He was husband to Yorm Khim and Dad to Mum Van (Voeuth Dam), Chantha Baker (Joe Baker), Dara Song (Tailin Gutierrez), Mary Abundo (Rainier Abundo) and Alexander Song. He was grandfather to Michael Van, Paul Van, Kevin Van, Sorena Van, Sidney Krouch, Aloni Sok, Nicholas Inthisack, Cody Inthisack, Mateo Inthisack, CJ Song Baker, Abigail Baker, Dasani Song, Dariel Song, Nasario Gutierrez, Juliano Song, Giovani Song and Noah Abundo — Chrun was loved by MANY! He has an abundance of godchildren and their mom, nieces and nephews, community members and best friends.

His journey was a long one, having lived over 90 adventurous years. He and Yorm immigrated from Thailand to the United States in 1980 after escaping Cambodia during the Khmer Rouge Regime. They raised their family in Chicago, Ill. And eventually landed in Holland, Michigan, in the late 1990s.

His garden was his favorite hobby. He could spend all day among his plants. “If you can’t eat it ... don’t plant it” was his saying in the yesteryears. As he got older, we started to see pretty flowers make their way into his pride and joy.

Another favorite way to pass time away was mushroom foraging and fishing with friends. This very special soul was always keeping his family members on their toes with all his escape routes. There are many of us who can share his adventures with you. He is also known for being the comedian in a crowd. Especially when he was around his nieces and grandsons. He had a special way of making everyone laugh until your stomach hurt. So many stories could be shared, and he will hold a special place in a lot of hearts.

He will probably instruct us all not to cry for him. Have a party and dance! If the party takes place at the beach ... that would be the best so he can wear sunglasses and people watch.

A Monk ceremony/funeral service will be on August 1, 2026, at Dykstra Funeral Home located at 295 Douglas Ave., Holland, MI 49424, at 1:30 p.m., finishing with a procession to the crematory at 3:30 p.m.
