Julie Ann Ackley

October 23, 1978-March 24, 2026

Julie Ann Ackley, age 47, of Spring Lake, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, March 24, 2026.

She was born in Mt. Clemens, Michigan, to Thomas Lee and Marietta (Dwyer) Ackley.

Julie graduated from Grand Haven High School in 1996. She had an infectious personality, loved being around people and was very gregarious. Julie was also very artistic, doing pottery and painting. She enjoyed being a hairstylist and loved making people look beautiful. Most of all, she was a family-oriented person.

Julie will be lovingly remembered by her son, Trey (Kendall Beaver) Bledsoe; two grandchildren, Tevyn Thomas Bledsoe, and Kalia Rose Bledsoe; her parents, Thomas and Marietta Ackley; her sister, Lisa (Brian) Maka; two nephews, Trent (Alexandria) Maka, and Brenden Maka; and several aunts and uncles.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Lewis and Helen Ackley, and Thomas and Mildred Dwyer.

A Mass of Christian burial will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 31, 2026, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Spring Lake with the Rev. William Vander Werff as celebrant. Friends may meet the family 4-7 p.m. Monday, March 30, with the rosary at 4 p.m. at The Spring Lake Chapel of Sytsema Funeral & Cremation Services, 213 E. Savidge St., Spring Lake.

A. Darlene Hollis

February 16, 1931-March 25, 2026

A. Darlene Hollis, age 95, of Grand Haven, died Wednesday, March 25, 2026.

She was born February 16, 1931, in Jamestown, Michigan, to Darl and Maxine (Moyles) Hollis. She graduated from Hudsonville High School (Class of 1949) and attended Grand Rapids Junior College. She moved to Grand Haven in 1968.

Darlene was employed at GMAC in Grand Rapids for 30 years, most of that time as Brance Manager’s secretary. Later, she worked for 20 years as a secretary at Trinity Reformed Church. She was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church, serving as a deacon, member of the Mission Committee, Geneva Choir and Presbyterian Women. She was also a P.E.O. and a member of the Women’s Club and Tri-Cities Garden Club.

Darlene is survived in death by her sisters: Patricia Nienhouse of Grand Haven, Norma Creasy of Grand Haven; nephews: Phillip Creasy, Dale Nienhouse, Michael (Jaime) Nienhouse, David (Dani) Hollis; great-nephews: Drew Hollis, Devin Hollis, Weston (Sue) Creasy, River Creasy; great-nieces: Amanda Hollis, Lindsay Hollis, Marissa Nienhouse; great-great-nephews: Dominic Creasy, Dezmond Creasy.

She was preceded in death by a nephew, Paul Creasy; brother, Daniel; sister-in-law, Eleanor Hollis; and brother-in-law, Robert Nienhouse.

A memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, April 8, 2026, at the First Presbyterian Church of Grand Haven, 508 Franklin Ave., Grand Haven, with the Rev. Dr. Troy Hauser Brydon presiding. Darlene’s family will be available to meet friends one hour before the service.

A time of light refreshment will be served at the church following the service. In lieu of flowers, a memorial gift may be made to the First Presbyterian Church, 508 Franklin Ave., Grand Haven, or the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA), 424 E. 92nd St., New York, NY, 10128.

Helen Alice Moon

April 25, 1936-March 24, 2026

On Tuesday, March 24, 2026, Helen Alice Moon, age 89, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and sister, went to join her Lord and Savior and her recently departed husband of 72 years.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Moon; son, Ken Moon; infant son, Timothy Moon; son-in-law, Mike Van Dam; parents Charles and Laura Wilkerson; and in-laws Paul and Dorothy Moon. She will be lovingly missed by her children Judy Van Dam, Nancy (Joe) DeLaCruz, and Chris (Vickie) Moon; 11 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.

Helen will be remembered as a strong and devoted matriarch who instilled a lasting work ethic across generations. Together with her beloved husband, she was a successful business owner, provider, and a steady guiding presence for her family. Known for her honesty and straightforward nature, Helen shared her thoughts openly, always with a caring heart behind her words. She deeply cared for those close to her and expressed that love in her own sincere and genuine way.

Helen was also known for her remarkable memory and keen business sense. She took a genuine interest in the lives of her family and friends and remembered the details that mattered most. Even as her memory began to fade, she continued to ask about others and how they were doing, reflecting her enduring thoughtfulness.

She was generous by nature, often giving to others whenever she saw a need. Helen never stopped caring for her loved ones, always wanting to help in whatever way she could.

She will be dearly missed.

A celebration of Helen’s life will be at 11 a.m. Monday, March 30, 2026, with visitation prior to the service beginning at 10 a.m., at Cook Memorial Chapel, 4235 Prairie St. SW, Grandville, Michigan. The family welcomes memories and messages at cookcaresgrandville.com in their online guestbook.
