Eleanor June Overweg

March 31, 1939-May 21, 2026

Eleanor June Overweg, age 87, passed away on Thursday, May 21, 2026.

Ellie was faithful to her Lord, her husband, and her family. She was a lifetime member of Overisel Christian Reformed Church until its closing and merging with Overisel Reformed Church. She was an avid archer and enjoyed hunting. Her love of animals and nature also extended to raising and showing horses. She and her family enjoyed camping together and creating lasting memories. She was dearly loved and will be missed.

She is preceded in death by several in-laws and extended family members.

She is survived by her husband, Kenneth Overweg; daughter, Sandra and John Bjorum; daughter, Connie and Tom Boeve; grandchildren, Amy and Brian Crawford, Justin and Michelle Bjorum, Mekenzie and Ben DeYoung, Josilyn and Collin Grotenhuis; great-grandchildren, Gwendolyn Russell, Gannon Russell, Gemma Russell, Porter Bjorum, Illyana Bjorum, Freya DeYoung, Ezra Wells DeYoung, Maisy Grotenhuis, Sophie Grotenhuis; sister, Sharon and James Gillespie; brother-in-law, Harold and Joann Overweg; and extended family.

Funeral services are 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 30, 2026, followed by a visitation/luncheon afterward at Overisel Reformed Church, 4706 142nd Ave. Holland, MI 49423, with Pastor Ken Klienheksel officiating.

Burial to take place in Pilgrim Home Cemetery.

Erick Gene Pifer

April 21, 1942-May 20, 2026

Erick Pifer, age 84, of Holland, passed away on Wednesday, May 20, 2026, at the Inn at Freedom Village.

Erick was born on April 21, 1942, in Van Wert, Ohio

Erick was preceded in death by his parents, Lowell and Refa Pifer, and a sister, Bonnie Morell.

Erick is survived by his son, Andrew Pifer, and daughter, Abigail Pifer.

A memorial service will be at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, May 30, at the Convoy Methodist Church, 207 N. Main St., Convoy, Ohio, 45832, followed by the burial at I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Convoy, Ohio.

Maxine Arens Rodenhouse

December 24, 1928-May 13, 2026

Maxine Arens Rodenhouse, age 97, of Holland, Michigan, passed from this life to life with Christ on May 13, 2026.

She was born to Arie and Antoinette Cook on December 24, 1928, near Holland, Michigan.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Jerry Arens, after 48 years of marriage. She was then married to Andrew Rodenhouse until his death 15 years later.

She is survived by her brother, Dale (Betty) Cook; sister-in-law, Betty Arens; Maxine's children, Myrna (Dennis) Kamper, Nancy (Calvin) Kleinheksel and Karen (Andrew) Kamper; nine grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren, dear cousins and friends. In addition, she is survived by Andrew's children, Donna (Harris) Rotman, Tom (Pat) Rodenhouse, Clare (Susan) DeGraaf, Rick (Debbie) DeGraaf, Gary (Kathy) DeGraaf, and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Maxine graduated with honors from Holland High School. She filled various clerical positions until she became a bookkeeper for Jerry's decorating business. She was good at numbers and loved playing Sudoku every day. She thrived being outside mowing her grass on her John Deere lawn tractor until well into her 90s. She enjoyed gardening, flowers and making braided rugs. She was an Avon representative for 50 years. She was a lifelong member of Graafschap Christian Reformed Church and served there in many ways, including Coffee Break and Care Committee. She also volunteered for the Back to God Hour (ReFrame Ministries) and Evergreen Commons.

The family welcomes relatives and friends for visitation at 5-7 p.m. on Thursday, May 28, 2026, at Langeland-Sterenberg Funeral Home, 315 E. 16th St., Holland. Funeral services, with the Rev. Philip Kok officiating, will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, May 29, also at the funeral home. Interment will be in Graafschap Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to ReFrame Ministries, Graafschap Christian Reformed Church, and Hospice of Holland.
