Nancy Lynn Bredeweg

Nancy Lynn Bredeweg, age 71, of Zeeland, passed away Thursday, September 10, 2026, in Grand Rapids.
Nancy was born on July 27, 1955, to John and Judy (Van Ommen) De Jonge. She was a lifelong resident of the area, working as a daycare provider for many years. Nancy will be remembered for her love of family, camping, going to beaches with her family and sisters, but mostly for her love of her children and grandchildren.
She was a member of First Baptist Church in Zeeland.
Nancy was preceded in death by her husband, Ronald Bredeweg in 2023, and her parents-in-law, Margaret and Gerald Bredeweg.
She is survived by her sons, Mark (Melissa) Bredeweg and Scott (Katie) Bredeweg; grandchildren, Kendall, Erin, Eli, Noah, and Emma; “special daughter,” Sandy Binnendyk; parents, John and Judy De Jonge; siblings, Vicky (Allen) Tubbergen, Joy (Doug) Smith, Julie (Kelly) Blauwkamp, Douglas (Ranae) De Jonge; sister-in-law, Sharon (Jeff) Nienhuis; and many extended family and friends.
A funeral service to celebrate Nancy’s life will be 4 p.m. Friday, September 18, 2026, at First Baptist Church, 246 W. Main St., Zeeland. Burial will be in Zeeland Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 2-4 p.m. on Friday prior to services at First Baptist Church.

Stephen Ray Faucher

Stephen Ray Faucher, age 78, passed away on Thursday, September 10, 2026.
Known as “Smokey” to his friends, Stephen was a true country-western enthusiast who loved his cowboy hats, belts, and boots. He had a wonderful sense of humor and will be remembered as a helper with a generous heart, always willing to lend a hand to others.
Stephen proudly served his country during the Vietnam War. During his military service, he held top-secret clearance while working with administrative orders and also spent six months serving in combat.
Stephen was preceded in death by his mother and father, as well as his younger brother, Peter J. Faucher of Trussville, Alabama.
He is survived by his youngest brother, Richard Kirby (Lara) Faucher of Holland, Michigan; his nephews, Jonathan, Josiah, Richard Ethan, Ben, and Philip; and his niece, Carrie.
A private family memorial will take place.
Stephen will be laid to rest at Fort Custer National Cemetery in Battle Creek, Michigan.

Abraham Garcia Sr.

Abraham Garcia Sr.: A Life Full of Love and Legacy
Abraham Garcia Sr., a cherished husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away peacefully at home on September 5, 2026, at the age of 89.
Born on March 18, 1937, in Vega Baja, Puerto Rico, Abraham’s journey through life was marked by devotion to his family, unwavering faith, and a warm-hearted spirit that touched all who knew him. He was also a dedicated family man, a hard worker, and a man who believed in taking care of the people he loved. He dedicated an incredible 42 years to Coca-Cola, retiring at the age of 80. That says so much about the man he was ... strong, committed, dependable, and never afraid of hard work.
The beloved son of Emiliano García and Epifanía Irizarry, Abraham was raised with strong family values alongside his siblings. Throughout his life, he remained deeply connected to his roots, carrying the love and lessons of his parents and predeceased siblings, Emiliano García Jr. and Francisco Garcia. Also preceding him in death is his daughter, Esmeralda Garcia.
In December 1966, Abraham married the love of his life, Gloria, and together they built a beautiful life over 60 years of a happy marriage. He was blessed with three children: Maria Del Carmen Garcia, Daisy Garcia, who is engaged to Felix Hernandez, and Abraham Garcia Jr., who is married to Natalie. Abraham's legacy continues through his grandchildren Maricarmen, Gloremily, Tony, Daniel, Lysette, and Justin; as well as 13 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren, with another on the way, each carrying forward his spirit and values.
Abraham was a man of integrity and kindness, qualities that he passed down to his children and grandchildren. His family was his pride and joy, and he cherished every moment spent with them. A devoted husband and father, he provided a strong foundation of love and support, always putting others before himself.
In addition to his immediate family, Abraham is survived by his loving siblings Samuel Garcia, Elliott Garcia, Uriel Garcia, Daniel Garcia, who is married to Idalith, Israel Garcia, who is married to Emma, and Nicy Vega, who is married to Edgar. The bonds he shared with his siblings were a testament to the importance of family and unity, values he held dear throughout his life.
Abraham's life was a testament to the power of love, family, and faith. His gentle spirit and generous heart enriched the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing him. While he will be deeply missed, his legacy lives on in the hearts of his family and friends.
Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Friday, September 18, 2026, at Cook Memorial Chapel (East Building), 4235 Prairie St. SW, Grandville, MI 49418. A rosary will take place at 7 p.m.

Marilyn Kay Masselink

Marilyn Kay Masselink was born October 27, 1937, to Mel and Ella Wiersema in Byron Center, Michigan.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, William Masselink.
Marilyn is survived by sons William J. and Paul S.; six grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was one of six daughters, Joanne Lotterman, Betty Stryker (deceased), Dorothy Noorman (deceased), Melva Mastbergen, and Linda Wykstra.
Marilyn attended Calvin College and graduated from Blodgett School of Medical Technology. She worked in that field for over 30 years. She also volunteered for hospice for several years and led several Bible studies. She loved music and singing in choirs. She was also an avid reader. She enjoyed cottaging with family up north, loved nature, and seeing the hand of God in it.
A celebration of Marilyn’s life will be at noon on Wednesday, September 16, 2026, with visitation beginning at 11 a.m. at Cook Memorial Chapel, 4235 Prairie St. SW, Grandville, Michigan 49418.

Patricia "Pat" Misner

Mrs. Patricia “Pat” Misner, age 88, of Spring Lake, passed away Tuesday, September 8, 2026, in Clinton Township, Michigan.
She was born January 15, 1938, in Muskegon to Russell and Helen (Crawford) Greer. On June 21, 1957, she married James Misner, and he preceded her in death on December 12, 2016.
Pat was a member of the Sweet Adelines in Spring Lake and the Muskegon Vikings. Most of all, Pat enjoyed being with her friends and dear family. She will be greatly missed.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Steve and Audrey Misner; grandchildren, Kyle (Claudia) Misner and their children Giancarlo, and Marcella, Jack (fiancée, Morghann) Misner, and James (Ashley) Makin.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Pam Makin; siblings, Kenneth (Rene) Greer, William (Carmel) Greer.
A visitation will take place 2-4 p.m. Sunday, September 13, 2026, at The Spring Lake Chapel of Sytsema Funeral & Cremation Services, 213 E. Savidge St., Spring Lake, MI 49456.

Stephanie Lynn Szucs
July 20, 1962-September 12, 2026
Stephanie Lynn Szucs, 64, passed away on September 1, 2026, at her home in Grand Rapids, Michigan.
She was born in Frankfurt, Germany, to parents John Szucs and Carol Mae Merriam (Loveless, Szucs) while her father was working for Armed Forces Radio. The family moved to Flint, Michigan, where Stephanie attended Neithercut Elementary, William McKinley Middle School and graduated from Flint Southwestern High School in 1980. She participated in the Flint public schools magnet program, attending Flint Central and Northern High Schools as well as Southwestern. Stephanie loved to sing and was a part of Stepping Stones, an active member of choir in middle school, as well as Young Life in high school.
Stephanie worked alongside her father at WFBE during the years when she attended the University of Michigan-Flint, where she earned two degrees in computer science. She began her career as a systems engineer with Electronic Data Systems, which took her to various locations across the United States. She eventually settled in Seattle, Washington, where she worked for various companies including Expedia, AT&T and T-Mobile.
Stephanie suffered a disability in 2007, at which time she retired from the computer profession to concentrate on her health care. She moved to Rochester, Minnesota to be near her sister during the 2020 pandemic, and then to Grand Rapids, Michigan in 2023 to be closer to her brother and father. Stephanie loved nature, art, film and music. She loved good food, good jokes and challenging games.
Stephanie was preceded in death by her mother, Carol Mae (2008).
She is survived by her father, John; brother, Stephen; and sister-in-law, Rebecca (Reed); her sister, Suzanne; her nephew, Kyle, and wife, Melanie (Papai); niece, Rachel and husband, Josh Jacoby, and their three daughters, Charlotte, Eliza and Olivia Jacoby.
A private family memorial of Stephanie's life will be held at a later date.

Jacob Samuel Veenstra

With faith in God's love, grace, and mercy, along with the promise of his savior's eternal peace, Jacob Samuel Veenstra was called from this life on Friday, September 4, 2026, in Muskegon, Michigan, United States, at the age of 30.
Born on February 2, 1996, in Grand Haven, Michigan, Jacob Samuel Veenstra lived his life close to the places and people that shaped him. His days were marked not by spectacle, but by the steady patterns that so often define a life of meaning: family, work, familiar interests, and a sincere Christian faith. Those who knew him remember a life rooted in these simple and lasting truths, and in that remembrance, there is both sorrow and the comfort of sacred hope.
Jacob worked proudly as a Certified Pharmacy Technician. In that role, he took part in the ordinary rhythm of daily life, and that work now stands as an important part of his story. It was one of the ways his life was known: through consistency, through responsibility, and through the quiet shape of everyday commitment. In times of loss, even the familiar routines of a loved one can take on a deeper significance, and Jacob's work remains part of the memory he leaves behind.
Jacob cherished time with family, and that closeness formed an important part of his life. He will be remembered with deep love by his father, Paul L. Veenstra of Muskegon; his mother, Melissa M. Barone (Lovelady) and his stepfather, Michael P. Barone of Grand Haven; his brother, Jeffrey P. Veenstra of Muskegon; his sisters, Janna C. Veenstra and Alissa J. Veenstra of Chicago; his stepsister, Amanda L. Michon (Geoff) of Oakland Twp.; his stepbrother, Anthony M. Barone of Lake Orion; his beloved niece, Michele A. Cady; and numerous uncles, aunts, cousins, nephews, and nieces.
Jacob's return home to his heavenly father was preceded by his sister, Julianne E. Veenstra; his grandfather, William J. Veenstra; his grandmother, Irma E. Veenstra; his grandfather, Douglas E. Lovelady; and his grandmother, Shirley A. Murphy.
Among the everyday pleasures that brought light to Jacob's life were playing video games and watching professional sports. These simple enjoyments gave shape to many of his days and now remain as clear and familiar points of remembrance. Such moments, though ordinary, often become especially precious in memory—the shared interest, the passing hour, the nearness of life as it was lived. In the story of Jacob Samuel Veenstra, these were part of the steady thread of who he was.
Above all, faith held an important place in his life. Jacob was a faithful Christian who loved Jesus, and that devotion remains central to his memory. As those who knew him grieve this loss, they may also hold fast to the comfort of God's presence and the hope of rest beyond this earthly life. His remembrance is carried not only in mourning, but in the abiding promise of divine peace.
