Gerald J. DeWeerd
June 10, 1932-September 18, 2026
Gerald J. DeWeerd, age 94, passed away on Friday, September 18, 2026. He was born June 10, 1932, to Gerrit and Theresa DeWeerd in Holland, Michigan.
Gerald married Marjorie Vandenberg on August 6, 1955, and together they shared 70 years of marriage. He served in the United States Navy for four years. Over the course of his working life, Gerald drove truck and considered himself a “pedal pusher.” In quieter hours, he loved to play golf and enjoyed woodworking.
Gerald was preceded in death by his wife, Marjorie DeWeerd; his parents, Gerrit and Theresa DeWeerd; and his granddaughter, Krystal DeWeerd.
Gerald is survived by his children, Rick (Krista) DeWeerd, Vicky (Scott) Joldersma, and Craig (Sue) DeWeerd; eight grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Harlow "Butch" G. Dine
February 21, 1943-September 16, 2026
Harlow G. Dine, age 83 of Grandville, Michigan, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 16, 2026, surrounded by his family and loved ones.
Harlow, or Butch, as some may know him, was born on February 21, 1943, in Grand Rapids, Michigan, to Harlow C. and Gladys Dine.
He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Helen; sisters, Clarice LaFontsee, Donna Jacobs, Shirley Perkins; brother, Ted Dine; and daughter, Stacy Gilmore.
He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Deb; a blended family of children Sue (Andy) Johnson, Scott (Kathie) Dine, Shawn Dine, Sarah (Jeremy) Chamberlain, and Jonathan Vickery; 12 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren (plus one on the way); sister, Joann Rhew; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
Harlow worked at General Motors for 30 years before retiring in 2007. He was deeply committed to his family and would go out of his way to help anyone in need, whether by providing a ride, fixing something, or caring for someone. He was stubborn to a fault and a perfectionist in everything he did, which is why his projects often took so long to finish. He had a quirky sense of humor and a passion for hunting, fishing, camping, and taking drives to the deer woods for hot dogs and marshmallows. He also liked to tinker around the house, finding many projects to start and leaving several unfinished. There was not a person he would not talk to — for hours — and he was famous for the loooong Michigan goodbye.
He loved his children unconditionally, was proud beyond words of his grandchildren, and attended many games and school events to support them. His greatest joy was spending time with his great-grandchildren and cherishing every moment with them. He loved a first and second breakfast, could out-eat anyone at the table, and always wanted one of every dessert. He was a loving father, a patient teacher, and an avid fisherman and hunter. He loved telling stories about his past shenanigans, but above all, he was a great man, the best dad, and a good friend to have.
Per his request, Harlow has been cremated and will be laid to rest at Resurrection Cemetery in Wyoming, Michigan.
Visitation will take place from 4-7 p.m. Thursday, September 24, 2026, at Cook Memorial Chapel, 4235 Prairie St. SW, Grandville, MI 49418. Memorial Mass will be held 11 a.m. Friday, September 25, 2026, at St. John Vianney Catholic Church, 4101 Clyde Park Ave. SW, Wyoming, MI 49509, with visitation one hour prior to the service. Luncheon will follow.
The family would like to extend a thank you to the many friends who have reached out with many thoughts and prayers. A special thanks goes out to the ICU doctors, physician assistants, and nurses at U of M Health West Hospital who provided him with compassionate care.

Lisa Kim England
March 27, 1957-September 19, 2026
Lisa Kim Brey England was born March 27, 1957, and passed away at age 69 on September 19, 2026, after a valiant battle with AML.
She was a 1975 graduate of Churchill High School in Livonia, Michigan, and a 1979 graduate of Eastern Michigan University with a Bachelor's Degree in Music Education. She met her husband, Patrick, when they both worked at a K-Mart Store and were married on July 28, 1979, enjoying 47 years of marriage together. She was a wonderful life partner as Pat went to Seminary and then pastored United Methodist Churches for 36 years. Besides being a great mom to their three children, Lisa discovered that she was gifted at working with preschool-age children and worked in an Early Childhood Center and later taught Head Start classes for years and years, blessing many children and families along the way! She was a crafter "extraordinaire", with the ability to paint, draw, or create whatever she could imagine! Lisa was also an incredible home decorator with amazing seasonal themes and actually painted, wallpapered and upgraded her entire kitchen earlier this year! In retirement, neighbors introduced her to quilting and she created beautiful items in her new hobby!
Lisa was a gifted musician, playing the violin in orchestras and ensembles, singing in choirs, ringing bells and directing bell choirs, and cutting loose with the Hale Area Show Choir for several fantastic years! More recently, she enjoyed playing in the orchestra and bell choir at Fellowship Church!
Lisa is survived by her husband, Patrick; daughter, Katie Gunning and granddaughter, Aly Gunning of Ann Arbor, Michigan; daughter and son-in-law, Ashley and Ron Nizinski of Owosso, Michigan; and son, Andrew England of Brooklyn, New York; sister and brother-in-law, Wendy and Michael Sanera of Mt. Vernon, Ohio; sister, Jan Ross of Monroe, Michigan; brother and sister-in-law, Steve and Bonnie Brey of Howell, Michigan; and sister-in-law, Angie Brey of Livonia, Michigan. There are also a great circle of nieces and nephews, cousins and other relatives, and many friends!
She was preceded in death by her parents, Otto and Hope Brey; sister and brother-in-law, Carole and James Dunn; brother, Robert Brey; and brother-in-law, John Ross.
Visitation will be at 11 a.m.-1 p.m. on September 23, 2026, at Fellowship Reformed Church, 2165 West Lakewood Blvd., Holland, MI 49424, followed by the funeral at 1 p.m.

A funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, September 25, 2026, at Cook Memorial Chapel, 4235 Prairie St. SW Grandville, MI 49418.
Visitation will be 10 a.m. until the time of the service. Private burial will immediately follow.

Marie (Telgenhof) Johnson, age 94, passed away on Thursday, September 17, 2026.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Johnson.
She is survived by her children, Tim and Denise Telgenhof, Todd and Cathy Telgenhof, Sherri Wilson; grandchildren, Sonny Telgenhof, Sarah Telgenhof, Andy and Sondra Telgenhof, Jay Telgenhof, Elizabeth Telgenhof, Mark Wilson, Joe Wilson, Carrie Wilson; and several great-grandchildren.

A committal service is planned for 11:15 a.m. on Friday, September 25, 2026, at Pilgrim Home Cemetery.
