21-year-old motorcyclist critically injured in US-31 crash
A 21-year-old local motorcyclist is in critical condition following a two-vehicle collision Sunday afternoon on US-31, local authorities said.
SPRING LAKE TWP. — A 21-year-old local motorcyclist is in critical condition following a two-vehicle collision Sunday afternoon on US-31, local authorities said.
Emergency responders — including the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office, the Spring Lake Township Fire Department, and LIFE EMS — were dispatched to US-31 near Taft Street around 2:46 p.m.
According to preliminary findings by investigators, the man was traveling northbound in the left lane on a Yamaha motorcycle when a farm pickup truck, driven by a 70-year-old Montague resident, merged from the right lane into his path. The motorcycle struck the rear of the pickup, throwing the rider from his bike.

The motorcyclist suffered critical injuries and was rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment. The driver of the pickup truck and his passenger were uninjured in the incident.
Crews temporarily closed a section of US-31 near Taft Street to process the scene and clear debris, causing brief traffic delays.
The Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office noted that the crash remains under active investigation.
