GRAND HAVEN — Enjoy an evening of conversation and fall refreshments with local author Barbara E. Bull this week.

On Thursday, Oct. 23, from 6-8 p.m., Grand Haven’s Loutit District Library’s Cheapstacks Used Bookstore will celebrate its 45th anniversary by hosting Bull, creator of The Katherine MacLeod/Cloud Cottage series.

Bull crafts fictional novels that highlight the beauty and history of the Great Lakes region. With settings in cozy lakeside cottages, snow-blanketed forests, and sandy shorelines shrouded in mystery, her novels include themes of family and heritage that are perfect for any season.

In addition to door prizes and treats, each attendee will receive two coupons for free books from the library's 20,000-plus inventory. Cheapstacks Used Bookstore is open year-round, and staffed entirely by volunteers. Proceeds go toward library purchases and projects. For more information, emails Cheapstacks@gmail.com.

Bull's writings also include a children’s book, "Benjamin’s Gift," as well as historical non-fiction.

Loutit Library is at 407 Columbus Ave., Grand Haven; the event will take place in Program Room A.
