HOLLAND TWP. — A driver was hospitalized with serious injuries Saturday night following a rollover crash on I-196 that forced a temporary closure of the westbound lanes.
Just after 8 p.m. April 25, the Ottawa County Sheriff's Office was dispatched to westbound I-196 near the 53-mile marker.
Preliminary investigation showed that the vehicle initially began to lose control on the ditch side of the roadway. The vehicle then went across the roadway and off into the median section of the highway. It then struck an embankment in the median and rolled several times, crossing back over the roadway and coming to rest back on the ditch side of the roadway.
The driver, a 42-year-old Holland man, was transported via AMR ambulance with serious injuries to an area hospital after being extricated by Zeeland Township Fire/Rescue.
