HOLLAND — City officials in Holland want to make sure residents have an opportunity to voice concerns and share ideas with them as they begin drafting their fiscal year 2027 budget.

The return of "Coffee with Council," an annual series of town-hall-style meetings designed to bridge the gap between city hall and the community, will kick off Jan. 7.

The events offer residents a direct line to the mayor, city council members, the city manager, and key department staff in an informal setting.

"Coffee with Council is intended to be an interactive and relaxed open house," city officials said in a statement.

Two days are available for the public to attend:

  • 5-6 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 7, at City Hall in the Council Chambers, 270 S. River Ave.
  • 9-11:30 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 10, at the Holland Civic Center Place, 150 W. Eighth St.

Both events are free to the public and will include light refreshments. Unlike formal council meetings, which often limit public comment to specific time increments at a podium, the open-house format encourages one-on-one dialogue between residents and their elected and appointed representatives.

For residents unable to attend in person, the city is accepting written feedback via email at coffeewithcouncil@cityofholland.com. All digital submissions must be received by Saturday, Jan. 10, to be considered as part of the initial budget planning phase.
