David 'Dave' Allen Beverwyk

December 25, 1942-April 13, 2026

David “Dave” Allen Beverwyk, age 83, of West Olive, Michigan, passed away on April 13, 2026.

Born on December 25, 1942, in Holland, Michigan, Dave lived a life marked by steady devotion — to family, to community, and to the everyday work of doing things well.

Dave was the son of Simon Beverwyk and Marian Beverwyk, both of whom preceded him in death. Raised in Holland alongside two brothers and a sister, he carried with him a deep-rooted connection to the place and people who shaped his early years. He graduated from Holland High in 1961.

After graduation, Dave spent time in the National Guard, where he attained the rank of Sargent. He was also part of the American Legion. In his working life, Dave served as the parts manager for VerHage of Holland, a role he held with pride and consistency until retiring at the age of 57.

On October 14, 1965, Dave married his lovely wife, Grace Ann Beverwyk. Together, they welcomed their first child in 1968 and went on to have three more children in the years that followed. Dave and Ann had just celebrated 60 years together — years filled with enduring partnership and unforgettable memories.

Anyone who knew Dave knew he loved cars. Some of the family’s greatest memories were made during trips to their cabin in the Upper Peninsula, where time slowed down and the focus returned to what mattered most — being together — while Dave enjoyed reading his car magazines. Another cherished memory was the week Dave and Julie spent camping in Bristol, Tennessee, to watch the Bristol NASCAR race.

Dave also took special joy in helping his sons with their scout’s pine cars. He built them from the ground up, even breaking one of Ann’s nail accessories along the way. His care and attention paid off — Jeff and Chris both won their pine car races, and the family was invited to meet Richard Petty after a picture was seen of the pine car Dave had made and modeled after NASCAR cars.

Dave was an active member of Beachwood Church in Holland for many years before attending Community Reformed Church in his later years.

Dave was preceded in death by his father, Simon Beverwyk; his mother, Marian Beverwyk; his brother, Rodger (Carol) Beverwyk; his brother, Don Beverwyk; his son, Jeff Beverwyk; and his grandchild, Jacob Merlino.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Ann Beverwyk; his sister, Sandra (Chuck) Goulooze; his sister-in-law, Marilyn Beverwyk; his daughter, Julie (Wayne) Beverwyk; his sons, Chris (Rachel) Beverwyk and Brent (Lisa) Beverwyk; and eight grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.

Visitation will be 11 a.m.-noon Friday, April 17, 2026, at Community Reformed Church, 10376 Felch St., Zeeland, 49464. A funeral will follow at noon at Community Reformed Church. A lunch will follow the service at Community Reformed as well.

Laraine Kay Betz Dunmire

Laraine Dunmire, 79, known simply as Lari by her loved ones, passed away on Tuesday, April 14, 2026, at Medilodge of Grand Rapids.

Lari was born on August 12, 1946, in Carson City, Michigan, to Charles and Doris Betz.

Lari graduated from Belding High School and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in education from Taylor University in 1967. After graduation, Lari taught elementary school before her marriage.

Lari met her husband, Vernon (Vern) Dunmire, while they were both at Taylor University, and the two married in Belding, Michigan, on July 25, 1970. The couple lived in Smirna, Michigan, until traveling to Haiti in 1973 for mission work. While there, Vern and Lari cared for American teenagers who were sent to Haiti for behavioral rehabilitation following a stay in Juvenile Detention.

When the couple returned to Smirna after seven months, Lari worked briefly with the Migrant Students program before moving to Illinois in 1974, where she worked with Vern as a Sub-parent, caring for children when their families were away. After this, Lari returned to teaching, specializing in special needs education until 1977, when she chose to stay home, giving birth to the couple’s first daughter, Erin (DeGraw), in 1978. The couple welcomed their second daughter, Betsy (Call), in 1981. Lari was a stay-at-home mother until her children were grown, when she returned to work. She started out teaching toddler Gymnastics and then worked at Field’s Fabrics happily until her retirement in 2017.

Lari was best known for her love of gardening, spending many hours creatively building her garden and the surrounding landscape. She was also an avid seamstress, having learned to sew at a young age. She spent much of her free time in her sewing room, practicing many different forms of handcrafting. She was a wonderfully empathetic and kind woman, with great compassion for the hurting people in her life, and a desire to assist anyone who was troubled or lost. Her home and table were always open to those who needed love and kindness.

Barbara Slaybaugh Raymond

April 12, 2026

Barbara Slaybaugh Raymond — mom, sister, wife, grandmother, and friend, affectionately known as “Bobby” to many — passed away peacefully at the age of 94 on April 12, 2026, at Freedom Village in Holland, Michigan.

Barbara was born in Yonkers, New York. She attended Ardsley High School and went on to graduate from Ohio Wesleyan University, where she majored in psychology and was an active and proud member of the Alpha Chi Omega sorority — an affiliation she cherished throughout her life.

After college, Barbara lived in the Gramercy Park neighborhood of New York City and worked for U.S. Rubber Co.

On September 7, 1957, she married Dick Raymond in Ardsley, New York. Together, they built a life rooted in family, first in Hartsdale, New York, and then in Ridgewood, New Jersey, where they raised their three daughters.

Barbara had a lifelong love of numbers, volunteering, and Duke basketball. She worked for many years as a paralegal during tax season and gave generously of her time to Family Counseling Services, where her dedication earned her multiple awards. Her passion for basketball grew from watching her brother Chet coach her nephews and evolved into a deep and lasting devotion to Duke University basketball — NCAA and ACC tournaments were among her favorite times of the year.

Family was at the center of Barbara’s life. Thanksgiving was a cherished tradition that brought together generations of the Raymond and Slaybaugh families. Over 63 years of marriage, Barbara and Dick shared many adventures, traveling to places including the Poconos, Sanibel Island, Chicago, Bermuda, New York City, London, and Normandy. Their most treasured tradition, however, was spending summers at Silver Bay on Lake George, New York.

In 1994, Barbara and Dick retired to Fearrington Village in North Carolina, where she reconnected with old friends, made new ones, attended live Duke basketball games, and took classes at UNC. After many happy years in North Carolina, they moved in 2014 to Holland, Michigan, to be closer to family. At Freedom Village, Barbara became a valued member of the welcoming committee, creating a pictorial record of residents and helping others feel at home.

Barbara is survived by her three daughters: Susan Raymond of Brooklyn, New York; Lyn Raymond of Holland, and Jane Raymond Gailey of Carmel, Indiana; her grandsons, Sam and Max Gailey; her sister, Eleanor “Skippy” Krell; her brother, Chet Slaybaugh (Charlene); and many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her husband, Dick Raymond; son-in-law, Larry Helder; brother-in-law, Dick Krell, and sister-in-law, Carol Coleman Slaybaugh.

Barbara will be remembered for her quick wit, her love of reading, trivia, and word puzzles, and her thoughtful habit of marking birthdays with a card. Even as it became more difficult in later years, she continued to find ways to celebrate others. She had a special knack for discovering articles and bits of information to share with family, always offering tailored guidance to each person. Above all, she cherished her role as a grandmother.

Her family extends heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Freedom Village for their compassionate care and genuine kindness toward Barbara, whom they affectionately called “spicy and sassy,” Dick, and their entire family. The community they built there will be deeply missed.

No memorial service is planned.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The New York Times Communities Fund.

The family is being served by Langeland-Sterenberg Funeral Home, 315 E. 16th St., Holland, MI 49423. To leave a condolence and more information, please visit langelandsterenberg.com.

Dolly Anne Snoeyink

September 4, 1934-April 13, 2026

Dolly Anne (Vos) Snoeyink, age 91 of Grandville, was welcomed into the loving arms of her faithful Savior, Jesus Christ, on April 13, 2026.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Alfred Snoeyink; son, Mark Snoeyink; infant son, Douglas Snoeyink; and parents, Louis and Agnes Vos.

She is survived by her children: Randy (Barb), Rick (Donna), Tammy, and Mike; 36 grandchildren; 46 great-grandchildren; 10 great-great-grandchildren; sister, Cheryl (Donald) Karsten; sisters-in-law, Jude (Vos) Walters, Phyllis (Vos) Blossom, Barb Oosterink, and Shirley Snoeyink; many nieces, nephews, and friends; and her Rivertown Ridge group of friends.

Dolly expressed her deepest desire recently on social media:

"If I could witness one prayer fulfilled before my life ends, it would be that every member of my family comes to know God while time remains."

Dolly will be remembered for her fun-loving, adventurous spirit, along with her immense generosity. She cherished time spent together with family, creating lasting memories.

With a competitive edge, Dolly was eager to compete in any type of game. Bingo, cards, board games, dominoes, and word games all kept her mind sharp. She was always the score keeper who didn't need a calculator.

Dolly and her sister, Joan, always managed to keep busy doing various activities and business escapades. They began humbly as the "hot lunch ladies" at Calvin Christian High School. Both sisters took painting lessons and soon were teaching classes of their own. The sisters shared many artistic talents and produced a wide variety of arts and crafts.

Dolly's love for travel led her to become a travel agent later in life. She joyfully booked cruises for all of her friends. Dolly-Joan Bus Tours evolved and was enjoyed by many senior citizens.

Dolly didn't just have a group of friends; Dolly had several groups of friends: Her "Club," the Sand Lake bunch, her racquetball friends, travel friends, and church friends, fun and laughter in every one of them.

Dolly left a legacy of much love and joy, was a true inspiration to her family and others, and will be lovingly remembered.
