Esther DeVries

February 5, 1928-April 24, 2026

Esther DeVries, age 98, of Jenison, passed from earth to heaven to be with her Lord on April 24, 2026.

Esther was the youngest of seven children and the only daughter in her family. After the early loss of her mother, her uncle and aunt, James and Alice (Sterken) Wagenaar, were instrumental in raising her alongside her cousin, Leona (Wagenaar) Piers, with whom she shared a lifelong bond.

A proud graduate of Holland Christian High School Class of 1946 and the Blodgett School of Nursing Class of 1949. Esther retired at age 75, after dedicating over 50 years of her life to the care of others as a Labor and Delivery Nurse at Blodgett Hospital.

Esther was known for her independence and positive attitude. Her keen sense of fashion, particularly her fondness for leopard prints, was a reflection of her vibrant personality. She also enjoyed basking in the sunshine and cherished the beauty of the beach. A woman of deep connections, Esther valued her relationships with family and friends, often reaching out through greeting cards to keep in touch and share her love.

Esther is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Jan & Paul Walcott; her granddaughters and their husbands: Lauren Walcott & Sam Bowerman, Jillian Walcott & AJ Monterusso; and great-grandchildren, Esther Jean and Anthony J Monterusso III; as well as many nieces and nephews.

Esther was preceded in death by her husband, Lee DeVries, as well as her parents, Henry B. and Anna Sterken; her beloved aunt and uncle, James and Alice Wagenaar; her siblings; and her cherished cousin, Leona.

A memorial service to honor Esther's life will be at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, April 29, 2026, at Hudsonville Reformed Church, 3950 Highland Drive, Hudsonville. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. on Tuesday, April 28, at Yntema Funeral Home, 251 S. State St., Zeeland.

Special thanks to the staff at The Oaks at Jamestown Assisted Living community who cared so well for Esther for the last 18 months of her life and to Jessica and the Hospice of Holland team for their compassionate care.

Tom Honor

February 9, 1962-April 22, 2026

Tom Honor, age 64, of Holland, Michigan, passed away on Wednesday, April 22, 2026.

Born on February 9, 1962, in Fort Wayne, Indiana, to Doris and Patrick Honor, Tom was a man who balanced a sharp professional mind with a genuine love for the outdoors and his community. He dedicated many years of his career to the finance industry before transitioning into logistics later in life, where his expertise and work ethic continued to shine.

While Tom was a dedicated professional, he was truly at home when he was active and outdoors. Whether he was navigating the waters on a boat, hitting a drive on the golf course, or engaging in a competitive match of tennis or pickleball, he embraced every moment of play. A lover of live music, he could often be found at concerts, and on Saturdays in the fall, there was no doubt where his loyalty lay—cheering loudly for his beloved University of Michigan football team.

He battled cancer caught in a late stage. Because of medical intervention, he was given an additional year surrounded by family. He died peacefully with the gentle embrace of family before his final breath, God calling him home.

Tom’s greatest legacy is his family. He is survived by his former wife, Laurie, his children, Nicholas (Daniel) Byrd and Andrea (Tim) Thielke; and his five cherished grandchildren, Elliot, Thomas, Henry, Benjamin, and Samuel, who will miss their grandfather’s spirit and energy.

He is also survived by his siblings, Walter Honor, Louise (Mike) Bush, and Betsy (John) Belbot. Tom was preceded in death by his parents, Doris and Patrick Honor.

A memorial service will be at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, April 29, 2026, at Langeland-Sterenberg Funeral Home, located at 315 E. 16th St., Holland, MI 49423. There will be a time of visiting and refreshments following the service from 10:45 a.m. until noon, where family and friends are invited to share memories and celebrate Tom’s life.

Kathy Kay Lambe

September 26, 1962-April 22, 2026

Kathy Kay Lambe, age 63, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, April 22, 2026, after a short battle with an aggressive cancer.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Lambe; son, Ian Beltz; and mother, Barbara Kooistra.

She will be lovingly missed by her father, Ralph Kooistra Sr.; siblings Ralph Jr. and Laurie Kooistra, Monda and Mark Wyma, Tasha and Mark Postma, and Caroline and Kevin Timmer; grandchildren, Emily Beltz, Elijah Beltz, and Silas Stanford; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Kathy was so loved as a daughter, sister, friend, mom, and grandma. We are truly thankful for the many wonderful memories with her: the precious sisters’ trips, and the way she cared so well for others in their own time of need, including her husband, son, and mom in their very last days.

She was a faithful witness to her faith in Jesus Christ. One thing she loved to do was to give people in need a message about Jesus and a few dollars. This small act impacted many people in a way we will never know. We rejoice with her now as she is in heaven with her Savior. Those of us left behind will cherish our memories so dearly.

The family welcomes memories and messages at cookcaresgrandville.com in their guest book online.

Dorean Kay Male

February 14, 1961-April 21, 2026

Dorean Kay Male, age 65, went to be with her Lord on Wednesday, April 21, 2026.

Dorean was preceded in death by her brother, Curtis Male (Wendy Male), and parents Leslie and Kay Male.

She will be remembered by her siblings, Carl Male (Shelly Male), Cris Male (Julie Male), and Cindy Campbell (Steve Campbell); and many nieces, nephews, and friends.

She was a woman who lived life on her own terms — independent, hardworking and unafraid — to embrace whatever came her way. Whether she was tackling challenges head-on or enjoying the simple pleasures of a day at home, she carried herself with determination and grace.

Her happiest moments were often spent at the cottage, where time seemed to slow and laughter came easily. It was there, surrounded by nature and the people she loved most, that her spirit truly shone. She cherished every opportunity to be with her great-nieces and -nephews, creating memories filled with joy, playfulness, and unconditional love.

A devoted animal lover, she had a special place in her heart for her cats, who were not just pets, but family.

Above all else, she was deeply rooted in her love for family. She showed up, gave generously, and reminded those around her what it means to care wholeheartedly. Her strength, kindness, and fearless approach to life will continue to inspire all who knew her.

She will be deeply missed and forever remembered by her family, friends, and all whose lives she touched.

A private family celebration of Dorean’s life will commence at a date and time to be determined. Interment will be at Grandville Cemetery. The family welcomes memories and messages at cookcaresgrandville.com in their guest book online.
