After retiring from GM Service Parts Operations, he and Patty relocated to West Michigan to be closer to their children and grandchildren. Never one to stay idle, Steve began a second career at the Grand Rapids Public Library, where he continued working up until his passing.
Steve had a deep love for his family and took great pride in his Italian heritage, which influenced his appreciation for tradition, connection, and storytelling. He had a natural ability to make others feel welcome and will be remembered for his kind, likeable demeanor and warm sense of humor. Whether sharing a story, completing a crossword puzzle, or studying a map, Steve found joy in the little things — and often brought others along for the ride.
A loyal Detroit sports fan, Steve rooted passionately for the Detroit Tigers and Detroit Lions, through good seasons and challenging ones alike. He found relaxation and happiness outdoors, especially fishing, golfing, playing softball — including in a senior league — and traveling to Northern Michigan, a location that always held a special place in his heart.
Steve will also be fondly remembered for his humor and endearing clumsiness, traits that made him uniquely himself and brought laughter to those around him. Above all, Steve’s legacy is one of love, loyalty, and kindness. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who knew him.
