Douglas D Notman, age 84, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday, May 23, 2026.
Dr. Notman was known by family, friends, patients, and his community as a man of deep faith, wisdom, and expertise. A lifelong outdoorsman with a deep love for nature and craftsmanship, he raised sheep for nearly forty years and found joy in woodworking in his shop. An avid reader, he was rarely far from a good book and always had a life-changing book in hand to pass along to others.

Susan J. Rumley
February 18, 1954-May 24, 2026
Susan Jane (Laga) Rumley, age 72, of Zeeland, passed away May 24, 2026, at home, surrounded by her loving family.
Sue was born February 18, 1954, in Highland Park, Michigan, to Robert and Joyce Laga. She grew up in Hazel Park and graduated from Hazel Park High School in 1972. She attended Moody Bible Institute in Chicago, where she met the love of her life, Tim Rumley. They were married on June 16, 1979.
The most important event in Sue's life happened in childhood, when she accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior. Everything else she did after that stemmed from a love of Christ and a desire to be more like him.
Sue most embodied Christ with her servant's heart. She was always available to her loved ones for the unexpected: driving last-minute to attend a doctor appointment or birth, or simply because one of her children requested her presence. She knew each grandkid's favorite candy, took loved ones on date days, prepared three hot meals a day, and never entered a home without looking for ways to serve. Sue prepared and delivered countless meals to those in need, and she always offered an open door and a hot cup of tea.
She was a faithful wife for over 47 years, supporting Tim through pastoral ministry and other career roles.
She loved reading books and putting together puzzles; playing the piano, flute, and many other musical instruments, including the dulcimer and accordion; camping with her husband, kids, and grandkids; and going on fun adventures like trying to find the best donut in Michigan. But most of all, Sue's true passion was raising her children. She excelled at homemaking, baking, and homeschooling her kids for 26 years, long before it was common. She loved time with her family and was especially thrilled when all 25 members could be together.
Sue was preceded in death by her parents.
She is survived by her loving husband of 47 years, Tim Rumley, as well as her six children, Luke (Lacey) Rumley, Emily (Daniel) Stauch, Erin (Tobin) Bolton, Betsey (Micah) Vastbinder, Zachary (Kaelee) Rumley, and Elyse Rumley. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Grace, Caleb, Ava, Jaden, Malachi, Lilah, Jackson, Judah, Bristol, Corbin, Alden, Anya, and one more due to arrive in November.

A memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Friday, May 29, at Grace Bible Fellowship, 1260 Chicago Drive in Jenison, officiated by Pastor Caleb Befus. Interment will take place prior to the service, at Zeeland Cemetery-Felch Street in Zeeland.
