Richard Frank Boss

January 13, 1941-May 7, 2026

Richard "Dick" Boss, age 85, of Holland, passed away Thursday, May 7, 2026, at Resthaven's Good Shepherd Home.

Dad was humble, kind, and gentle. He loved God, his family, and a good campfire. He was a man of few words and lots of one-liners. He started OK Tire in 1965 and said it was "the best place to take a leak." When years of manual labor became too much, he sold used cars for Crown Motors, where he'd "rather make a friend than a profit." He had a lot of great friends.

Dad was a long-time member of Drenthe Christian Reformed Church and, more recently, Trinity Reformed Church.

We are grateful for Mom's Caregiver Support Group at Maranatha Church, Dad's LifeCircles team and Cornerstone caregivers, the Resthaven staff, and Hospice of Holland's team in our family's journey with Alzheimer's.

Dad will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

Dick was preceded in death by his brothers, Peter Boss, Jerry Boss, John Boss, and Philip Boss.

Dick is survived by his wife of 65 years, Anita Boss; children, Steve (Jackie) Boss, Sheri (Greg) Thomassen, Rick (Sarah) Boss, Chad (Lindy) Boss; 15 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; siblings, Emily Weener, Betty Vander Veen, Nick (Pat) Bos; in-laws, Ann Boss, Ruth Datema, Jerald "Butch" (Pat) Vanden Berg, and many nieces and nephews.

A memorial service is planned for 11 a.m. Monday, May 11, 2026, at Trinity Reformed Church, 712 Apple Ave., Holland, with the Rev. Amanda Bakele officiating. Burial will be in Bentheim Cemetery. Visitation is scheduled for 6-8 p.m. Sunday, May 10, also at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Holland or the Trinity Church Memorial Fund. Condolences may be left online at langelandsterenberg.com.
