OTTAWA COUNTY — Ottawa County is kicking off Pride 2025 with numerous events to support and celebrate the LGBTQ+ (lesbian, gay bisexual, transgender, and queer) community.

Pride, celebrated annually, commemorates the Stonewall riots of 1969, which were a series of protests that took place after police raided the Stonewall Inn, a gay club located in New York City.

Pride month is now recognized federally and in the state of Michigan.

Here are some Pride events that are happening in Ottawa County this year:

Pride and Presence: This event combines yoga with pride. The event goes from 6:30-8:30 p.m. June 12 and is located at Felt Mansion in Holland Michigan.

Grand Haven Pride Festival: The third annual Grand Haven Pride Festival goes from noon to 9 p.m. June 14 at Lynn Sherwood Waterfront Stadium, 1 N. Harbor Drive. The event features a pride market with LGBTQ+ vendors, food trucks, a kids zone and plenty of live music. The event is also hosting a drag show at 12:30 p.m. at the waterfront stadium.

Holland Pride Speaker Series: This year, Holland is hosting various events with topics such as “Fact vs. Fiction in LGBTQ+,” “Raising the Future” and “Where Are We Now? Advocacy at Work.” The speaker series events will take place at various locations through June 30.
