Three-vehicle crash injures 6, closes Grand Haven Twp. road
A three-vehicle collision at a busy intersection in Grand Haven Township left multiple people with minor injuries and forced a temporary roadway closure Thursday afternoon.
GRAND HAVEN TWP. — A three-vehicle collision at a busy intersection in Grand Haven Township left multiple people with minor injuries and forced a temporary roadway closure Thursday afternoon.
Ottawa County Sheriff’s deputies responded to the scene near the intersection of Mercury Drive and Comstock Street following reports of an injury crash just before 3 p.m.
According to crash investigators, a 23-year-old Muskegon woman was driving an SUV northwest on Mercury Drive when she attempted to turn left onto Comstock Street. As she initiated the turn, her vehicle was struck by an oncoming minivan traveling southeast on Mercury Drive.
The minivan was operated by a 44-year-old Grand Haven woman and carried four juvenile passengers.
The force of the initial collision sent the vehicles into a third car — driven by a 40-year-old Grand Haven woman — which was stopped on Comstock Street waiting for traffic to clear.

Emergency medical personnel treated the drivers and the four minors at the scene for minor injuries. No hospitalizations were reported.
A portion of the intersection was closed for an extended period on Thursday to allow emergency crews to clear the wreckage and investigate the scene.
The roadway has since reopened, and the cause of the crash remains under investigation.
