A 66-year-old Belmont man has died following a single-vehicle crash in Wright Township on Monday afternoon, according to the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office.
WRIGHT TWP. — A 66-year-old Belmont man has died following a single-vehicle crash in Wright Township on Monday afternoon, according to the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office.
Emergency crews, including sheriff's deputies and the Wright-Tallmadge Township Fire Department, were dispatched to Eighth Avenue near Garfield Street just after 4 p.m.
Police said the man was driving a pickup truck northbound on Eighth Avenue when the vehicle drifted off the road just past the intersection and slammed into a tree.

The driver, who was the only occupant in the truck, was rushed to a local hospital in critical condition. Authorities confirmed he was later pronounced dead.
Deputies temporarily closed the section of Eighth Avenue near Garfield Street to clear the wreckage and conduct an initial scene investigation.
The crash remains under investigation by the Ottawa County Sheriff's Office.
