A 45-year-old city of Wyoming resident suffered serious injuries Thursday morning following a two-vehicle crash in Port Sheldon Township.
PORT SHELDON TWP. — A 45-year-old city of Wyoming resident suffered serious injuries Thursday morning following a two-vehicle crash in Port Sheldon Township.
Emergency crews with the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office responded to the report of a crash with a trapped driver at the intersection of Port Sheldon Street and 152nd Avenue at about 8:35 a.m.
According to preliminary findings by investigating deputies, the Wyoming driver was traveling northbound on 152nd Avenue in a 2018 Mazda when the vehicle failed to yield the right-of-way.
The Mazda pulled into the intersection and was struck by an eastbound 2019 Ford driven by a 39-year-old Holland resident.

The impact left the driver of the Mazda pinned inside the vehicle. Port Sheldon Township Fire and Rescue personnel performed an extrication to free the driver, who was subsequently transported to a local hospital in serious condition.
The occupants of the Ford reported minor injuries and received medical treatment at the scene.
The Sheriff's Office noted that the cause of the crash remains under active investigation.
