Ferrysburg candidates answer citizen questions during forum

Four of the six people running for various races in Ferrysburg answered resident questions at a candidate forum on Tuesday, Sept. 30.

FERRYSBURG — Four of the six people running for various races in Ferrysburg answered resident questions at a candidate forum on Tuesday, Sept. 30.

Both mayoral candidates, incumbent Richard Carlson and city councilman Jerry Sias, were present, along with council candidates Dave Cook and Tim O'Donnell, who is running as a write-in candidate.

Not present were city council members Debbie Murdoch and Bill Cate, both of whom are running for re-election.

Murdoch, Cate, Cook and O'Donnell are running for three available seats on the council.

Hosted by the Ferrysburg Candidates Forum Committee, the event allowed the nearly 50 people in attendance to see where the candidates stand on a variety of issues before heading into the Nov. 4 general election.

The event was moderated by Sarah Leach, executive editor of Ottawa News Network, and radio host Mary Ellen Murphy with WGHN.

Questions ranged from how to bring in new revenue for the city to how to address housing needs to what infrastructure and economic development projects should be the city's top priorities.
