OTTAWA COUNTY — Week 2 of the high school football season delivered high-octane offensive showcases, dramatic overtime finishes, and a slew of dominant performances across Ottawa County.

The highlight of the week came in Jenison, where the Wildcats outlasted Forest Hills Northern 34-31 in an overtime thriller to stay undefeated. Hudsonville delivered the standard for defensive dominance on Thursday, pitching a 49-0 shutout against East Lansing to claim their first win.

Unbeaten records were firmly defended throughout the slate. Coopersville rolled past Grand Rapids West Catholic 41-21, while Grand Haven ground out a tight 17-14 victory over Muskegon Reeths-Puffer. Holland Christian (33-14 over Wayland) and Spring Lake (43-6 over Gladwin) both stormed to victories, while Zeeland East claimed a 29-21 decision over Flushing.

In high-scoring affairs, Unity Christian flexed its offensive muscle with a 53-30 victory over Hammond Morton (Ind.), and West Ottawa dismantled Mattawan 53-12. Zeeland West capped off the week’s action on Friday night with a commanding 50-20 statement win over Midland.
