Food available for financially qualifying households via USDA program

Anyone who meets income guidelines can pick up a box of food from a distribution site Friday or a participating pantry. No documentation is required to show income, residency or family size.

OTTAWA COUNTY — Financially qualifying households are eligible to receive free food distributed by Ottawa County Community Action Agency and local food pantries. 

Foods available for pickup include ultra-pasteurized 1% milk, farina wheat, canned pinto beans, dry kidney beans, tomato sauce, grape juice, peanut butter, raisins, beef stew and applesauce. 

Anyone who meets income guidelines can pick up a box of food from a distribution site or participating pantry. No documentation is required to show income, residency or family size. 

Income guidelines are:

  • Household of one: $47,880
  • Household of two: $64,920
  • Household of three: $81,960
  • Household of four: $99,000
  • Add $17,040 for each additional person in the household. 

Households also are eligible if a member participates in an income-based food program, such as CSFP, WIC, FIP, SNAP or free or reduced school lunch. Food is provided through the Emergency Food Assistance Program of the U.S. Department of Agriculture. 

Food is available for pickup 10 a.m.-noon Friday, June 26, at Church of the Saviour, 180 N. 68th Ave., in Coopersville. Call 616-997-8050 for information.

Food provided through the program also may be available at area food pantries:

  • Hudsonville: 11:30 a.m.-5:30 p.m. Wednesdays and 8 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturdays, Jehovah Jireh Ministries, 4055 Van Buren St., 616-209-7688.
  • Holland: 12:30 p.m.-3:30 p.m. Mondays, 9 a.m-noon Wednesdays, and 12:30 p.m.-2:30 p.m. Thursdays, The Salvation Army, 104 Clover St., 616-392-4461.
  • Zeeland: 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Mondays, 1 p.m.-6 p.m. Wednesdays, and 9 a.m.-noon Thursdays, Harvest Stand Ministries, 100 S. Pine St., Ste. 100, 616-741-8250. Call for an appointment.
