Letters to the Editor: Hold local, national figures accountable
EDITOR'S NOTE: The views and opinions expressed are those of the writer and not of Ottawa News Network.
The public needs to hold Joe Moss accountable
On Nov. 25, 2025, the Ottawa County Board of Commissioners had an ethics complaint before the board pursuant to the Code of Ethics Policy involving the conduct of Joe Moss.
The board voted 10-1 not to get further involved. Board meetings are viewable at miottawa.org.
The board chose apathy over accountability and expediency over integrity. During the Dec. 18 commissioner workshop, the topic of ethics had a six-minute discussion (viewable at 1:31:00 to 1:37:00 timestamp). An admission was made that the code of ethics policy is flawed.
The only thing that is going to bring about accountability is "we the people." Google iPetitions Ottawa County MI and sign the online petition if you agree.

Narcissistic personality disorders
This is how the "Harvard Guide to Psychiatry" defines this condition: "The essential feature of narcissistic personality disorders is grandiosity — a persistent and unrealistic overvaluation of one's own importance and achievements. This trait may be evident in arrogance, entitlement and the need for attention and admiration."
The guide goes on to say, "such persons are intolerant of criticism, rejection or indifference. They are likely to respond to these perceived insults with feelings of humiliation and rage."
Donald Trump's personality fits perfectly with this description. The most recent proof of this was Trump's social media messages about the deaths of Rob Reiner and his wife. Trump did not respond to the murders with empathy for the family or any compassion for the murder victims. The messages were all about himself and the narcissistic wound caused by Reiner's criticisms of his presidency. More recently than that, on Christmas, Trump sent out more than 150 messages of rage, criticisms of his perceived opponents, and vows of revenge on perceived enemies. Again, these messages were all about himself.
Most Christians spend Christmas with family and friends in a celebration of love, offering prayers and thoughts for those less fortunate than themselves, and being thankful for all the blessings in one's life.
Not our president! He was on social media even in the hours when most of us are sleeping. What we now have in the White House is a man with a serious personality disorder, which is causing havoc here and around the world. Is there anyone in his orbit who will confront Trump that he needs psychiatric treatment?
Trump's personality disorder is not being discussed in the media, just as Joe Biden's mental decline was hidden by the media and Biden's staff until the debate with Trump, which exposed Biden's mental deterioration. The scary thing here is that I believe Putin understands very well Trump's narcissistic personality disorder — and is playing him — and Ukraine is paying the price as well as we Americans.
