WEST OLIVE — For one night only, the quiet halls of the Hemlock Crossing Nature Education Center will be reimagined as a vibrant gallery.

The Lakeshore Visual Arts Collective announced the return of "Art for the Parks," a pop-up exhibition scheduled for 5-8 p.m. April 25 at Hemlock Crossing County Park.

The event marks the latest installment in LVAC’s series of exhibitions, which utilize unconventional venues to foster community between local creators and art patrons. True to the collective’s signature approach, the show will be curated in a salon-style format — an informal, nonlinear arrangement designed to spark dialogue and highlight the contrasts between various works.

Art with a mission

Beyond the aesthetic appeal, the event serves a philanthropic purpose. A portion of all art sales, along with suggested door donations, will be directed to the Ottawa County Parks Foundation.

"Nature is a connection for so many West Michigan artists, and this collaboration celebrates that," said Jane Stoepker, president of the LVAC. "Our mission is to create a sustainable artist community where the benefits flow in many directions—to the artists, the patrons, and the nonprofits."

To date, LVAC has raised tens of thousands of dollars for regional organizations through these high-energy, short-duration events.
