Sunday night vigil planned for deceased Grand Haven Township family of eight

GRAND HAVEN — While few details regarding the deaths of eight Grand Haven Township people were publicly known Sunday afternoon, a community vigil is being held in remembrance of the deceased.
The names of the victims in the Friday, July 24, incident that occurred in the 14900 block of Riverside Trail weren’t released by the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office as of 11 a.m. on Sunday.

Two adults and six children were found inside the home after authorities responded to the two-story residence. The call initially came in as reports of smoke, but first responders were unable to initially locate a source.
At a makeshift shrine outside the home by neighbors a banner indicated the vigil is slated for 8 p.m. at Duncan Woods, located off Sheldon Road, between Taylor and Woodlawn avenues, in the city of Grand Haven.
The shrine was located outside the neat, single-family home. Candles, flowers and notes were gathered in front of a tree along the curb.

Meanwhile, the investigation continues. Michigan State Police are assisting the sheriff’s office.
Some of the victims had gunshot wounds, according to Ottawa County Sheriff's Captain Jake Sparks, who said it is unclear how many people had been shot.
