One dead, three hospitalized after high-speed, two-car crash
A 62-year-old woman was killed and three others were hospitalized — including one airlifted with serious injuries — following a two-vehicle collision Tuesday evening in Holland Township, authorities said.
HOLLAND TWP. — A 62-year-old woman was killed and three others were hospitalized — including one airlifted with serious injuries — following a two-vehicle collision Tuesday evening in Holland Township, authorities said.
Emergency crews with the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office and the Holland Township Fire Department responded to the scene at the intersection of Butternut Drive and James Street shortly after 7:10 p.m. on Sept. 29.
Upon arrival, first responders found a damaged black GMC Acadia and a black Jeep Grand Cherokee blocking the roadway.
According to preliminary investigative findings, the GMC was traveling northwest on Butternut Drive at a high rate of speed. As the Jeep, traveling southeast, attempted to make a left turn onto James Street, the two vehicles collided in the intersection.
Five people were inside the Jeep at the time of the impact.
A 62-year-old woman suffered fatal injuries in the crash, while a 62-year-old male passenger suffered severe injuries and was airlifted to a regional hospital.
The Jeep's driver and a 1-year-old child were transported by ground ambulance to an area hospital, and a 22-year-old male passenger from Holland escaped without injury.

The driver and sole occupant of the GMC Acadia, an unidentified female, was also uninjured.
The crash remains under active investigation by the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office.
