HOLLAND — Drivers navigating the streets near the Boys & Girls Club on Tuesday, Nov. 3, will face temporary parking restrictions designed to give voters direct access to the polls on Election Day.
The City of Holland has issued a temporary traffic control order establishing a designated "Voter Parking Only" zone outside the Boys & Girls Club along Van Raalte Avenue. The order takes effect when official signs are posted and runs from 7 a.m.-8 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 3, matching state polling hours.
Under the regulation, non-voter parking is restricted along the east side of Van Raalte Avenue between 18th and 19th streets.
To ensure accessibility, city officials are setting aside three designated parking spaces at the curb cut specifically for voters with disabilities.
Municipal personnel will erect temporary signs marking the voter-only zone ahead of the polls opening and will remove the signage following the close of voting at 8 p.m.
The measure was authorized on Nov. 2 under Section 18-16 of the Holland City Code, which empowers local officials to enact temporary traffic and parking directives to maintain public order and accessibility during city events and elections. The order officially expires on Wednesday, Nov. 4.
Polling places statewide remain open until 8 p.m.
