At the recent Forum on Healthcare, hosted by the Chamber of Grand Haven, Spring Lake and Ferrysburg, I had the privilege of sharing where Trinity Health Grand Haven is now, highlighting some of our recent achievements, and sharing where we’re headed in the future.

For context, the healthcare environment in our country became increasingly challenging post-pandemic, with independent community hospitals being the hardest hit. In October 2022, North Ottawa Community Hospital became a wholly owned member of Trinity Health Michigan, continuing its rich history of community-based care under a new name — Trinity Health Grand Haven.

As Trinity Health Grand Haven, now backed by regional expertise and national resources, we’re focused on successfully meeting the changing healthcare needs of Ottawa County residents, now and into the future, while retaining the welcoming, friendly culture and hometown feel that patients and visitors expect.

Our top priorities include access and convenience: focusing on meeting expectations to provide services that are close to home, easy to schedule, and delivered safely, skillfully, compassionately, and equitably. We’re also committed to coordinate care along the West Michigan lakeshore between our Grand Haven, Muskegon, and Shelby hospitals, connecting patients to care from specialists and subspecialists, in addition to care from their known and trusted providers.

And we’re proud of our recent achievements:

We’ll continue to invest in campus infrastructure, including the replacement of aging equipment and technology while growing primary care and specialty care on campus.

Currently, we’re conducting a strategic evaluation of and planning for the best use of resources to support clinical services and keep care local whenever possible.

At the end of the day, we would like Trinity Health Grand Haven to be a leading provider of compassionate, comprehensive, and innovative care, empowering people to regain independence and achieve their fullest potential for a vibrant, healthy future.
