Three injured, passenger ejected after car launches over I-96 lanes in dramatic rollover
Upon arrival, first responders found the vehicle that had rolled over, ejecting a rear-seat passenger.
WRIGHT TWP. — Emergency crews rescued three people after a dramatic, high-speed rollover crash along I-96 on Wednesday.
Deputies with the Ottawa County Sheriff's Office were first alerted to the scene when an automatic iPhone crash notification triggered an emergency response, followed immediately by a 911 call reporting a vehicle flipped in the highway median between the eastbound and westbound lanes.
Upon arrival, first responders found the vehicle that had rolled over, ejecting a rear-seat passenger. Two other occupants remained trapped in the front seats amidst full airbag deployment. Though it remains unclear if seatbelts were worn during the crash, officials noted that none of the occupants were restrained when deputies arrived.
Firefighters with Wright-Tallmadge Fire/Rescue extricated the trapped passengers from the vehicle and rendered emergency aid. All three occupants were subsequently transported to a local hospital by LIFE EMS for treatment.

According to a preliminary investigation, the vehicle was traveling northbound on Eighth Avenue when it failed to navigate the turn onto Ironwood Street. The car launched north up the highway embankment, clearing the eastbound lanes of I-96 entirely before slamming into the median. Investigators reported heavy damage to both the vehicle's front end and roof, consistent with the flight path and rollover.
The crash remains under investigation by the Ottawa County Sheriff's Office.
