Two seriously injured after motorcycle collides with fire truck
Two people were seriously injured Tuesday night when a motorcycle collided with an Olive Township fire truck at a rural intersection in Ottawa County.
OLIVE TWP. — Two people were seriously injured Tuesday night when a motorcycle collided with an Olive Township fire truck at a rural intersection in Ottawa County.
Emergency crews — including the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office, Olive Township Fire Department, AMR ambulance, AeroMed, and Michigan State Police — responded to the crash at about 8:45 p.m. Aug. 11 at the intersection of Tyler Street and 136th Avenue.
According to preliminary investigation results, the Olive Township fire truck was traveling westbound on Tyler Street and attempting to turn south onto 136th Avenue when it turned into the path of an eastbound motorcycle.

Both the motorcyclist and a passenger suffered severe injuries in the collision. The driver was airlifted from the scene by AeroMed, while the passenger was transported by ground ambulance via AMR. The two occupants inside the fire truck were uninjured.
The intersection of Tyler Street and 136th Avenue remained closed late Tuesday as crash reconstructionists processed the scene. The Michigan State Police have taken the lead on the ongoing investigation.
