Roundabout Construction: Lincoln Street at 144th Avenue

WHEN: Beginning Monday, July 6

WHERE: Lincoln Street at 144th Avenue, Grand Haven/Robinson townships

WHY: Roundabout construction

BACKGROUND: The Ottawa County Road Commission has scheduled roundabout construction work at the intersection of Lincoln Street and 144th Avenue in Grand Haven/Robinson townships.

The contractor intends to close the intersection and begin work on Monday, July 6, 2026. It is currently anticipated that work on the project will conclude on or around August 10, 2026; however, all dates are tentative and work is weather-dependent.

Work consists of removing the existing roadway approximately 500 feet to 700 feet in all directions from the center of the intersection, excavating and constructing the new roadway alignment in each approach of the intersection, installing storm sewer drainage pipes, pouring concrete curb and the center island of the roundabout, paving the new asphalt surface, driveway approaches, and placing permanent signing and pavement markings.

TRAFFIC IMPACT:

Both Lincoln Street and 144th Avenue will be closed to traffic during work on this project.

Detour route for Lincoln Street: Lincoln Street to 152nd Avenue to Groesbeck Street to Mercury Drive/Green Street to 128th Avenue

Detour route for 144th Avenue: Lake Michigan Drive (M-45) to 128th Avenue to Green Street/Mercury Drive.

Bridge Rehab: 104th Avenue over Black Creek

WHEN: Begins July 6

WHERE: 104th Avenue, James Street to Riley Street, Holland Township

WHY: Bridge rehabilitation

BACKGROUND: On July 6, 104th Avenue between James Street and Riley Street in Holland Township will be closed for a bridge rehabilitation project on the 104th Avenue bridge over Black Creek.

Work consists of the removal of the existing bridge superstructure, construction of the bridge substructure units, construction of the new bridge superstructure, construction of the approach roadway on both sides of the bridge, placement of the new asphalt surface on both approaches, installation of guardrail elements, and painting and placing the permanent pavement markings on the new asphalt surface.

This project is estimated to be completed in its entirety on or before Nov. 30. All work is weather dependent and completion times are subject to change.

TRAFFIC IMPACT: 104th Avenue will be closed between James Street and Riley Street. A posted detour route will be in effect throughout the project’s entire duration using Ottawa County’s primary road system. The detour route for each direction of travel along 104th Avenue is as follows:

Northbound 104th Ave.: Westbound on James Street/Northbound on 112th Avenue/Eastbound on Riley Street

Southbound 104th Ave.: Westbound on Riley Street/Southbound on 112th Avenue/Eastbound on James St.

Road Closure: 24th Avenue, south of Riley Street

WHAT: Road closure

WHEN: Beginning July 6

WHERE: 24th Avenue, Riley Street to Byron Road, Jamestown Township

WHY: Culvert replacement

BACKGROUND: On Monday, July 6, 24th Avenue between Riley Street and Bryon Road in Jamestown Township will be closed for a culvert replacement project.

This closure is estimated to last through July 17; however, all work is weather dependent and completion times are subject to change.

TRAFFIC IMPACT: A detour route will consist of Byron Road/32nd Avenue/Riley Street.

Road Closure: Linden Drive, M-45 to Leonard Street

WHAT: Road closure

WHEN: Beginning July 6

WHERE: Linden Drive, M-45 to Leonard Street, Tallmadge Township

WHY: Culvert replacement

BACKGROUND: On Monday, July 6, the Ottawa County Road Commission will be closing Linden Drive between M-45 and Leonard Street in Tallmadge Township for a culvert replacement project.

Please note that all work is weather dependent and completion times are subject to change.

TRAFFIC IMPACT: A detour route will consist of M-45 to 24th Avenue to Leonard Street.

Road Resurfacing: Cleveland Street

WHEN: Beginning July 7

WHERE: Cleveland Street, M-104 to 96th Avenue, Crockery Township

WHY: Road resurfacing

BACKGROUND: Beginning June 7, contractors for the Ottawa County Road Commission are expected to begin work on a resurfacing project on Cleveland Street between M-104 and 96th Avenue in Crockery Twp.

Work on this project is expected to last through late July; however, please note that all work is weather-dependent, and completion dates are subject to change.

TRAFFIC IMPACT: Traffic will be maintained using temporary lane closures under flag control during work hours. Be prepared for possible delays when traveling through this area while work is taking place.

Please note: The Cleveland Street bridge over Crockery Creek is anticipated to reopen to traffic by early next week, ahead of the start of this resurfacing project. All work is weather-dependent, and schedules remain subject to change.

Road Resurfacing: Leonard Street

WHERE: Leonard Street, Spring Lake Village Limits to 148th Avenue, Spring Lake Township

WHY: Road resurfacing

BACKGROUND: Beginning June 7, contractors for the Ottawa County Road Commission are expected to begin work on a resurfacing project on Leonard Street between Spring Lake Village Limits and 148th Avenue in Spring Lake Township.

Work on this project is expected to last through late July; however, please note that all work is weather-dependent, and completion dates are subject to change.

TRAFFIC IMPACT: Traffic will be maintained using temporary lane closures under flag control during work hours. Be prepared for possible delays when traveling through this area while work is taking place.
