16th annual Harvest Fest at Benjamin's Hope brings inclusivity, connection to Holland

HOLLAND — Join Benjamin’s Hope at its 16th Harvest Festival, which celebrates connection and belonging for people of all ages and abilities.
The nonprofit organization dedicated to ensuring those with intellectual and developmental disabilities thrive invites the community to its free event on 3-6 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 19, 15468 Riley St., Holland.
Due to the incoming weather, the event will be moved to the main building. Featured at the event will be Dan the balloon man, carnival games, and face painting. Food will be provided: hot dogs, cider, Hudsonville ice cream bars and popcorn, and the barn will be open and staffed for visitors who want to visit the animals.
“We dreamed of creating a place where everyone belongs,” said co-founder Krista Mason. “Harvest Festival is a celebration of community, inclusion, and the incredible support we’ve received from West Michigan. This event is our way of saying thank you.”
Benjamin’s Hope supports more than 40 adults through its residential program with eight homes providing supportive living environments. Its ever-growing NEXT program also helps participants develop life skills, relationships and independence, and the Church of Ben’s Hope hosts more than 150 people each week for an inclusive worship experience.
