104th Avenue over Black Creek

WHEN: Begins July 6

WHERE: 104th Avenue, James Street to Riley Street, Holland Township

WHY: Bridge rehabilitation

BACKGROUND: On July 6, 104th Avenue between James Street and Riley Street in Holland Township will be closed for a bridge rehabilitation project on the 104th Avenue bridge over Black Creek.

Work consists of the removal of the existing bridge superstructure, construction of the bridge substructure units, construction of the new bridge superstructure, construction of the approach roadway on both sides of the bridge, placement of the new asphalt surface on both approaches, installation of guardrail elements, and painting and placing the permanent pavement markings on the new asphalt surface.

This project is estimated to be completed in its entirety on or before Nov. 30. All work is weather-dependent and completion times are subject to change.

TRAFFIC IMPACT: 104th Avenue will be closed between James Street and Riley Street. A posted detour route will be in effect throughout the project’s entire duration using Ottawa County’s primary road system. The detour route for each direction of travel along 104th Avenue is as follows:

Northbound 104th Avenue: Westbound on James Street/Northbound on 112th Avenue/Eastbound on Riley Street.

Southbound 104th Avenue: Westbound on Riley Street/Southbound on 112th Avenue/Eastbound on James Street.
