Join us for energizing early morning yoga sessions at the Holland Ice Park’s stunning amphitheater during Holland’s celebrated Tulip Time festival. Knee-high Naturalists: 10-11:30 a.m. at Outdoor Discovery Center, 4214 56th St., Holland. Knee-high Naturalists introduces young children to the wonders of the natural world. Crafts, activities, books, snacks, live animals, and outside exploration will be incorporated into their nature-based learning experience. Parents can drop off their 4- to 6-year-old or stay with the class. Parents or guardians are asked to attend with their 3-year-old to help with bathroom use and transitioning into a group learning environment. The suggested age range is 3-6 years old. Guardians drop children off or stay with the class. Registration is required. Register and pay for attending children only (except infants). Fee: $10 per child, $5 for members.

Flourish is an exhibition of textile art by Kayla Powers that delves into the interconnectedness and cyclicality of the living world. Are We There Yet? — Senior Art Show: 10 a.m.-4:30 p.m. at De Pree Art Center and Gallery, 275 Columbia Ave., Holland. "Are We There Yet?" serves as the culmination of the students' time at Hope, highlighting their dedication and creativity. Free. 

SABAI DEE: Celebrating Holland’s Laotian Community: 11 a.m.-4 p.m. at Holland Museum, 31 W. 10th St., Holland. Through personal narratives, photographs, and artifacts, the exhibit explores how Holland’s Laotian community has faced challenges, preserved its heritage, and established deep roots that continue to enrich the city today. $10 adults; $8 senior; $5 students 5-18, veterans and educators; free 5 and younger.

American Impressionist Society Welcome Reception: 4-6 p.m. at J. Petter Galleries, 161 Blue Star Highway, Douglas. Painting demonstrations and refreshments will kick off the Small Works Exhibition, which features vibrant artworks from AIS members across the country. Over 2,500 artists compete for only 70 coveted spots, making this a truly exclusive showcase. From landscapes to still lifes, each piece captures the beauty of impressionist color, light, and brushwork. 

First Friday Herd Meditation: 4-6 p.m. at Red Horse Center for Collaborative Leadership, 6169 122nd Ave., Fennville. Come experience the beauty of nature, the peace of meditation, and the resonance of a herd of horses. Herd Meditations offer peace and quiet, fresh air, and some time to slow things down with a supportive herd of horses. The herd meditation welcomes a small group of people, gathering together with optional introductions followed by a brief, calming meditative exercise. Participants are then invited to join the herd at their own pace and at whatever distance feels comfortable. No horse experience is required.

Nocturne Plein Air Painting: 6 p.m. at J. Petter Galleries, 161 Blue Star Highway, Douglas. Artists from the American Impressionist Society will gather for a special evening outdoor painting session at Safe Harbor Marina, just across the street from the gallery. As evening falls, painters will capture the glow of harbor lights and reflections on the water, creating atmospheric works inspired by the beauty of the waterfront. 

Annual Bash & Fundraiser for Ladders of Hope: 6-8:30 p.m. at J. Petter Galleries, 161 Blue Star Highway, Douglas. Artists from the American Impressionist Society will gather for a special evening outdoor painting session at Safe Harbor Marina, just across the street from the gallery. GR Symphony Presents Sounds Of Laurel Canyon: '60s and '70s Rock Legends: 7:30 p.m. at DeVos Performance Hall, 303 Monroe Ave. NW, Grand Rapids. Want to know a fun fact about Laurel Canyon in honor of the Grand Rapids Symphony performing some of the '60s and '70s rock legends? Laurel Canyon is known for its rich music history and is home to many of L.A.'s top Rock Musicians! Join Bob Bernhardt as he conducts the orchestra to play the sounds of Laurel Canyon. Public Star Gazing: 8-10 p.m. at Hemlock Crossing, 8115 West Olive Road, West Olive. The observatory is open from 8-11 p.m. (weather and clear sky permitting). There are no entry fees. Please be aware that the park gate closes automatically at 10 p.m. sharp; visitors must arrive before then to enter the park. Visible night sky objects: planets, the Moon, deep sky objects like galaxies, star clusters and planetary nebulae.

Birding Hike with Latino Outdoors GR: 9-10:30 a.m. at Huff Park, 1435 Aberdeen St. NE Grand Rapids. Join ODC Network in partnership with Sergio Cira-Reyes, the founder of Latino Outdoors GR, for a birding hike around a local birding hotspot! Learn to identify birds by sight and sound as we explore the trails, with tips from an Outdoor Discovery Center Naturalist. All experience levels are welcome. Afterwards, adults in the group are invited to grab a drink and continue socializing. Binoculars will be provided. It is suggested to download Merlin Bird ID and eBird, but not required. Netherlands “Klok” Runs at Noon: 12 p.m. at Holland Museum, 31 W 10th St, Holland. See the wonderful moving parts of the Netherlands “Klok” from the 1939 World’s Fair. The Klok runs on the first Saturday of every month at noon for one minute. (Included with Holland Museum Admission)

Author Event : Amanda Uhle: 1-2:30 p.m. at The Bookman, 715 Washington Ave, Grand Haven. Join us for a Special In-Store Author Event with Amanda Uhle, author of the memoir, "Destroy This House". Please park at the wooden pylons or white-chained grassy parking area, and enter the mansion through the front door (pillared entrance on the East side of the mansion) to pay your admission fee, and then explore all three buildings and the grounds at your leisure. $5-10. 

Won't You Be My Neighbor: 6-7:30 p.m. at Herrick District Library, 300 South River Avenue, Holland. Come enjoy some snacks and watch Won't You Be My Neighbor? Documentary is rated PG-13. Free.

The bar is open for food and drinks. It is free to play and the winning team gets a $30 to spend at the 1847 Lounge.

Tots at Tri-Cities is our first program series for our preschool-aged explorers. It's free! 'Tots' is offered the 1st Wednesday of the month at 10 am. Program run time is approximately 30 minutes. Spring Macroinvertebrate Monitoring: 8:30 a.m.-2 p.m. at DeGraaf Nature Center, 600 Graafschap Rd, Holland. Come help us investigate the health of our area streams by collecting the aquatic macroinvertebrates that live there. These critters give us a general idea of the water quality. Plus, it’s fun and easy to do! We’ll gather, form teams, head out to streams to collect, and then gather again for identification. You can help with collection, identification or both! Lunch will be provided for those that stay for identification. No experience required and all equipment will be provided. Dress appropriately for getting wet and/or muddy. Not all stream locations are universally accessible. Event may be postponed if weather or river conditions are unsafe. Registration is required.

Knee-high Naturalists: 10-11:30 a.m. at Dragonflies Discovery Preschool, 30 152nd Ave, Holland. Knee-high Naturalists introduces the wonders of the natural world to young children. Homeschool program – Wonderful Wetlands: 10 a.m.-12 p.m. at Outdoor Discovery Center, 4214 56th Street, Holland. Wetlands are some of the most important habitats on Earth! From frogs and turtles to birds and insects, wetland animals have incredible ways of surviving in watery environments. Join us to explore the wonders of wetlands, discover the animals that live there, and learn how they survive through hands-on activities and outdoor exploration. Garlic Mustard Removal: 10 a.m.-12 p.m. at Southwest Michigan Land Conservancy’s Armintrout-Milbocker Nature Preserve, 137 Thomas St, Allegan. Volunteer with the Allegan Conservation District to help remove garlic mustard, an invasive plant threatening our local ecosystems, at Southwest Michigan Land Conservancy’s Armintrout-Milbocker Nature Preserve. During this program, you’ll learn to identify garlic mustard, understand why it is harmful to native plant communities, and discover how it spreads aggressively and alters soil conditions to outcompete native species. You’ll receive training on how to properly pull the plant by the root and dispose of it to prevent regrowth and seed spread. No experience is necessary – just bring your enthusiasm and be ready to make a meaningful impact outdoors! We recommend bringing a water bottle and wearing clothes that can get dirty. Community Slow Roll & Bike Night: 6-8 p.m. at Holland Ice Park, 71 East 6th Street, Holland. Join us for a laid-back community slow roll bike ride designed to get everyone out to enjoy our beautiful city on two wheels! No registration necessary – just show up, ride, and enjoy the evening. Coaches and volunteers will be there to help manage intersections so families and cyclists can focus on what matters: making new friends and reconnecting with old ones. In addition to the ride, we’ll have other exciting bike events, including a Littles Balance Bike Course* for our younger riders to develop their skills in a fun, supportive environment. This program invites participants to discover how artistic expression and the natural world intersect across Outdoor Discovery Center’s programs and spaces. Jamie Krupka, Chief of Interpretation, will highlight how the ODC Explorer Network engages participants in creative, nature-based experiences that deepen ecological understanding. Attendees will also explore the impactful Red Alert! Exhibit, a thought-provoking installation that uses visual storytelling to emphasize the urgency of biodiversity conservation. The journey continues along the Doug and Kori Eledean Rentz Art Trail, where outdoor installations transtorm the landscape into an open- air gallery. Early Bloomers Flower Arranging: 10 a.m.-1 p.m. at Ox Bow House, 137 Center Street, Douglas. Participants will explore the art of flower arranging through the lens of early spring, working with seasonal blooms, budding branches, and fresh greens that reflect the textures and rhythms of the moment. Demonstrations will cover basic floral design principles, how to condition stems, and how to compose balanced, expressive arrangements that highlight the natural character of spring flowers. Local flowers from White Barn Flower Company in Holland, Michigan, will be provided to each participant. Field Studies in Gouache: 10 a.m.-1 p.m. at Ox-Bow School of Art, 3435 Rupprecht Way, Saugatuck. Explore the unfolding of spring on Ox-Bow’s campus through a series of observational gouache (opaque watercolor) paintings. Demonstrations will introduce techniques for working with gouache, including color mixing, layering, and accurately matching hues found in nature. The session will begin with a short demo, followed by guided sketching sessions around the meadow and surrounding landscape, emphasizing close observation and intuitive mark-making.

The Grand Haven Kite Festival transforms the Lake Michigan shoreline into a sky full of color, creativity, and high-flying fun. Armed Services Marathon: 7 a.m.-2 p.m. at Grand Haven High School Football Grounds, 17001 Ferris St, Grand Haven. Starting and ending in the Grand Haven High School Football Stadium, the Armed Services Marathon, Half Marathon & 5K offers one of the more scenic courses you’ll enjoy in Michigan. The course consists of 97% paths with only 3% on quiet roads with little traffic making for an enjoyable run. Qualifying Courses for Boston Marathon, New York City Marathon & Abbott Marathon Majors Series. The Armed Services Marathon, Half Marathon, 10K, & 5K honors all branches of our military as well as our first responders. Each branch will have a booth and/or exhibit in the stadium. We will have a Joint Services Honor Guard presentation before the singing of the National Anthem. Each military branch will staff an aid station for your support and our participants will vote which aid station they enjoyed the most. The winning branch will be awarded the “Traveling Trophy.” Our four time defending champions, the U.S. Marine Corps proudly display it in their office.

Expressing Beauty through Abstraction: 10 a.m.-12 p.m. at Holland Area Arts Council, 150 East 8th Street, Holland. In this workshop, participants will learn how to turn ones’ memories and feelings into colorful works of abstraction. Artist Benjamin Boss will discuss how he begins a painting and some of the techniques he uses in order to materialize his vision. He will also cover the basics of composition, value, color theory, and a little art history. By offering various prompts, participants will be able to get started on their ideas and leave with a finished work. Each student will create works on large sheets of paper using acrylic paint and oil pastels. There will also be an isolated “spray booth” of sorts where students can fling paint freely within a confined space without getting paint on themselves or surroundings. $80.

The parade route travels from Paradise Park to the Cemetery following the usual route down Main St. The VFW encourages all veterans, community members and scout troops to participate in the parade along with decorated bicycles, golf carts, vintage automobiles, horses or floats.

Beach Glass Wind Chimes: 6-8 p.m. at New Holland Brewing Co. Restaurant & Pub, 66 E. Eighth St., Holland. Michigan is known for its beautiful lakes and large sandy dunes. Beach glass is created when turbulent waves combine with coarse sand to create a natural rock tumbling effect. The resulting product is a mixture of wonderfully polished glass and tumbled driftwood — both items we will be utilizing to create an eye-catching and ear-pleasing wind chime that is the perfect addition to any Michigander's home. $45.

Garlic Mustard Removal: 10 a.m.-noon at Silver Creek, 3900 134th Ave, Hamilton. Volunteer with the Allegan Conservation District for the opportunity to help remove garlic mustard, an invasive plant threatening our local ecosystems. During this program, you’ll learn to identify garlic mustard, understand why it is harmful to native plant communities, and discover how it spreads aggressively and alters soil conditions to outcompete native species. You’ll receive training on how to properly pull the plant by the root and dispose of it to prevent regrowth and seed spread. No experience is necessary – just bring your enthusiasm and be ready to make a meaningful impact outdoors! We recommend bringing a water bottle and wearing clothes that can get dirty. Garlic Mustard Removal: 10 a.m.-noon at DeGraaf Nature Center, 600 Graafschap Rd, Holland. Help us pull invasive garlic mustard to clear room for native plants on the trails at DeGraaf Nature Center! Gloves, wheelbarrow, and trash bags will be provided. Show up anytime between 5-6:30 to help for 20 minutes or 2 hours on Wednesdays and Saturdays in May! For ages 10-99, minors must be accompanied by an adult. No registration required.

Guests are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and blankets to ensure a spot to sit. Food will be available as supplies last, but guests are also able to bring their own food.
