Driver escapes serious injury after SUV struck by train
A Hudsonville man escaped with only minor injuries Tuesday afternoon after his SUV collided with an oncoming train in Zeeland Township, authorities said.
ZEELAND TWP. — A Hudsonville man escaped with only minor injuries Tuesday afternoon after his SUV collided with an oncoming train in Zeeland Township, authorities said.
Emergency crews responded to the crash at about 4:45 p.m. in the 6000 block of Chicago Drive.
According to a preliminary investigation by the Ottawa County Sheriff's Office, the 46-year-old driver was exiting a private driveway when he attempted to cross the railroad tracks, entering the path of an eastbound train.

The driver was treated for minor injuries following the impact. Two engineers aboard the train were uninjured. While the train sustained visible damage, officials confirmed it remained operational.
The Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office and CSX Police are continuing to investigate the incident.
