Driver hospitalized after crash in Grand Haven Township
A Grand Haven motorcyclist was hospitalized Wednesday morning following a two-vehicle crash in Grand Haven Township, according to the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office.
GRAND HAVEN TWP. — A Grand Haven motorcyclist was hospitalized Wednesday morning following a two-vehicle crash in Grand Haven Township, according to the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office.
First responders were dispatched to 172nd Avenue near Timberview Drive around 10:05 a.m. July 22 after receiving reports of a collision involving an SUV and a motorcycle.
An initial investigation indicates a 54-year-old Grand Haven man was heading southbound on 172nd Avenue on a Harley-Davidson motorcycle when an 83-year-old Grand Haven man driving a Toyota Highlander pulled off Timberview Drive into his path, triggering the crash.
The motorcyclist, who deputies noted was wearing a helmet, suffered serious but non-life-threatening injuries. He was transported to a Muskegon-area hospital by Life EMS for treatment.

Neither the driver of the Toyota Highlander nor his 75-year-old passenger reported injuries.
Grand Haven Township Fire assisted at the scene with traffic control and emergency medical care. The cause of the collision remains under investigation by the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office.
