The Spring Lake Public School Board is the seven-member board whose members are elected to govern the Spring Lake Public Schools district.

  • Where: The Media Center at the Spring Lake Intermediate School, 345 Hammond St., Spring Lake
  • Duration of meeting: 90 minutes
  • Members present: President Jennifer Nicles, Vice President Kelly VanderHoek, Secretary Curt Theune, Treasurer Christopher Beck, Trustee Paul Aldridge and Trustee Courtney Holmes. Trustee Dustin Brown was absent.

  • Packet: No supporting materials for the agenda were available to the public.
  • Agenda amendments: No amendments were made to the agenda.

Action items

  1. Two staff resignations:

  4. Recommendation for high school and middle school furnishings:

Closed session

Per the meeting agenda, the board went into closed session for the purpose of the "Ratification of Paraprofessional Bargaining Agreement."

Discussion items

The meeting began with two presentations. The first was an AP Environmental Science student-led presentation, and the second was an update on career and technical education course offerings at the high school.

Upon completion of the action items on the agenda, Superintendent Dennis Furton introduced discussion/information items related to proposed changes to the initial recommended course of action for the middle school tennis courts and Hickman Field — also located on the middle school campus — and invited questions and discussion from board members.
