The Spring Lake Township Board of Trustees is the elected legislative body responsible for setting government policy, overseeing township operations, and managing fiscal responsibilities to ensure the health, safety, and welfare of residents.

What is the body?

The Spring Lake Public School Board is the seven-member board whose members are elected to govern the Spring Lake Public Schools district.

  • When: 5:45 p.m. Monday, June 15, 2026
  • Where: The Media Center at the Spring Lake Intermediate School, 345 Hammond St., Spring Lake
  • Duration of meeting: The open session portion of the meeting lasted approximately 45 minutes and began with a budget hearing in advance of the regular meeting.
  • Members present: President Jennifer Nicles, Vice President Kelly VanderHoek, Trustee Paul Aldridge and Trustee Courtney Holmes. Secretary Curt Theune, Treasurer Christopher Beck and Trustee Dustin Brown were absent.
  • Agenda: The agenda can be found online here.
  • Packet: No supporting materials for the agenda were available to the public.
  • Agenda amendments: No amendments were made to the agenda.

Closed session

Prior to going into closed session at the end of the regular meeting for the purpose of conducting the superintendent's mid-year evaluation, there was no formal motion offered for a vote to approve going into closed session.

Additionally, because the board members stay in place, the board president indicates that the public must leave the room.

  1. Motion to approve and adopt the 2025-26 General Appropriation Resolution Amendment as presented.
    1. Vote: Approved unanimously (voice vote).
  2. The board voted to unanimously approve a motion for the following new hires (voice vote):
    1. Shannan Conrad: MTSS Specialist, Spring Lake High School
    2. Anna Fedewa, English Teacher, Spring Lake High School
    3. Lea Carter, Elementary Music Teacher, Holmes/Jeffers
    4. Gabriella Jungwirth, IRR Special Ed Teacher, Holmes
    5. Abby Snell, Speech-Language Pathologist (Part-Time), Jeffers
    6. Lydia Tibble, Paraprofessional, Spring Lake Middle School
  3. The board moved to approve the General Appropriations Resolution for Fiscal Year 2026-27 as presented:
    1. Vote: Approved unanimously (voice vote)
  4. The board moved to approve the 2026-27 Tax Levy as presented:
    1. Approved unanimously (voice vote)
  5. The board moved to approve the purchase of 130 Savvas Learning’s World History textbooks for a total cost not to exceed $24,182 as presented:
    1. Approved unanimously (voice vote)
  6. The board moved to approve the purchase of two new Duraflex diving boards and refurbishment of the existing diving stands for the Fitness and Aquatic Center diving well from Springboards and More for an amount not to exceed $25,158.16 as presented:
    1. Approved unanimously (voice vote)

The board also had policy first readings for policy numbers: 0100, 1410, 2418, 3120.09, 3210, 4120.09, 4210, 5136, 6320, 6325, 8120.09, and 8402, which were included as a Discussion/Information agenda item.

The district's office summer hours were also included in the agenda. Those hours are 9 a.m.-noon Monday-Thursday, beginning June 22 and extending through July 31, with regular hours resuming on Aug. 3.
