Motorcyclist killed after driving in the path of an oncoming car
A 32-year-old Jenison man was killed Friday morning after he pulled into the path of an oncoming car in Georgetown Township.
GEORGETOWN TWP. — A 32-year-old Jenison man was killed Friday morning after he pulled into the path of an oncoming car in Georgetown Township.
Just before 9 a.m. May 22, the Ottawa County Sheriff's Office was dispatched to a report of a sport-utility vehicle versus a motorcycle on Cottonwood Drive at Summerset Drive.
Police said the motorcyclist was turning left off Summerset onto Cottonwood on a Yamaha motorcycle and turned into the path of a Chevrolet Equinox traveling northbound on Cottonwood Drive driven by a 21-year-old Grand Rapids man.
The motorcyclist, who was wearing a helmet, did not survive his injuries.
The driver of the Equinox and his 21-year-old passenger from Grand Rapids both suffered minor injuries and were transported to a Grand Rapids-area hospital for treatment.
A third occupant in the Equinox, a 23-year-old Grand Rapids man, was not injured.

Georgetown Township Fire assisted on scene with patient care and traffic control.
Cottonwood Drive was shut between Baldwin Street and Bauer Road while the investigation took place.
This crash remains under investigation by the Ottawa County Sheriff's Office.
