BACKGROUND: The Ottawa County Road Commission has scheduled roundabout construction work at the intersection of 48th Avenue and Baldwin Street in Blendon/Georgetown townships.
The intersection was closed today, July 27, to begin work on the project, as well as for work related to the 24-inch Transmission Main project that is underway along 48th Avenue between Port Sheldon Street and Baldwin Street.
Work on the roundabout portion of the project consists of removing the existing roadway approximately 500-700 feet in all directions from the center of the intersection, excavating and constructing the new roadway alignment in each approach of the intersection, installing storm sewer drainage pipes, pouring concrete curb and the center island of the roundabout, paving the new asphalt surface, driveway approaches, and placing permanent signing and pavement markings.
