Toddler, man hospitalized after low-speed electric dirt bike crash in Grand Haven Twp.
Two people, including a toddler, were hospitalized Wednesday evening following a collision between an electric dirt bike and a work truck on Mercury Drive.
GRAND HAVEN TWP. — Two people, including a toddler, were hospitalized Wednesday evening following a collision between an electric dirt bike and a work truck on Mercury Drive.
Emergency responders — including the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office, Grand Haven Township Fire Department, and Life EMS — were dispatched to the crash scene in front of the Wesco gas station at 14750 Mercury Drive around 6:05 p.m.
According to sheriff's deputies, a 25-year-old man was riding an electric dirt bike eastbound along the adjacent bike path, carrying a 20-month-old female passenger. As a Ford work truck driven by a 28-year-old man pulled out of the business parking lot, it collided with the dirt bike.

Investigators noted that both vehicles appeared to be traveling at low speeds at the time of the impact.
Neither rider on the dirt bike was wearing a helmet. The 25-year-old man sustained serious injuries, while the 20-month-old child suffered minor injuries. Life EMS transported both victims to area hospitals for medical treatment.
The driver of the work truck was not reported injured. The incident remains under active investigation by the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office.
