HOLLAND — Lakeshore Memorial Services has secured its position among the world’s elite funeral service providers, earning the National Funeral Directors Association’s 2025 Pursuit of Excellence Award.

The accolade marks the 10th consecutive year the Holland-based funeral home has received the honor, placing it within a select group of just 271 funeral homes globally to be recognized this year.

To qualify for the award, firms must meet rigorous international standards spanning regulatory compliance, ongoing staff development, innovative family services, and robust community outreach. Participants are also required to pledge strict adherence to the NFDA’s ethical practices.

The 2025 award represents a milestone of sustained performance.

General Manager Mark Neitzel credited the achievement to a collective team effort and a deep-seated responsibility to local residents.

"The 2025 Pursuit of Excellence Award completed our 10th consecutive year here at Lakeshore Memorial Services," Neitzel said. "I want to thank all our dedicated staff for the hard work and, more importantly, the teamwork together with serving our families. All the families we serve in our community and surrounding communities deserve our best, and this award reflects that higher level of commitment."

The NFDA evaluation process scrutinizes multiple facets of a funeral home’s operations, including regulatory and ethical compliance, professional development and community and peer engagement.

Jessica Koth, the NFDA’s director of public relations, commended the Holland firm for its decade-long track record of high-caliber service.
